Think this nails it tbh.

Dyche thought he’d brought in another head on a stick.

That free kick was amazing. It reminded me of Cook to Glen away at Coventry in 2001. Different, but the same amount of sheer cheek.

To do that in the 110th minute of a World Cup quarter final is incredible.

So many questions…
- Will he get booked and sent off for a second yellow in extra time?
- can he score an extra time and get a hat trick.
- If it goes to penalties and he takes in scores is that a Hattrick?

Alan Shearer has been saying the same "lump it up to big lad.."

And then we see Wout receive it on the ground, swivel and put it past the keeper.

80mins of possession football didn't produce any results so they went for plan B.
When we had 80mins of lumping it forward with no end product we may have got something if we had a plan B.

Because Shearer probably thinks what Dyche and the majority of Burnley fans did (he’s 6’6, smack it at him and he’ll do well in the air etc).

Clear that’s just not his game at all - although the last two times I’ve seen him play for the Dutch he’s scored two fantastic headers which is ironic.

Thought he was a fish out of water in Dyche’s team but you could see the way he wants to play working really well as the focal point in Kompany’s system - you really could. He’d be potentially excellent.

To be fair, I think it took the majority of us about 45 minutes to see that hitting high balls at him, just wasn’t his game.

Was a strange replacement for Wood in the circumstances, without altering our style to accommodate the swap…

They couldn’t have been more different.
