post match interviews

Post by cblantfanclub » Sat Dec 31, 2022 12:33 pm

The girl who does the post match interviews with the players really needs a bit of coaching. She asks the players,"how are you feeling", in every interview question every week. She excelled herself by asking Cullen 5 times how he was feeling after the Stoke match.
All for good young media team but time to up the interview game I think. I agree it's not easy , just listen to the so called professionals, but we can do better. Minor quibble and I might be alone.

And yet another post criticising females that dare step into a man's world...

So being female should make you immune from fair and constructive criticism?

And yet another post saying that people shouldn’t criticise a ‘person’ if they are female because they are female.

What an idiotic thing to say.
Women have been in the media for years.
Just like men they are not immune from criticism if they are not very good.

The OP has not asked why a female is doing the interviews, simply pointing out that she needs to up her interview technique. I'd say that's fair criticism and encouraging her to develop her style/questions.

Are females immune from being critiqued in their job? Try being Muric!

I thought it was a well constructed post by the OP.
Could easily of come across incorrectly, but didn’t.

Also think it’s a fair point.

She may not be perfect but she is streets ahead of Phil Bird and I wish they’d have her doing the pre match stuff.

Thought Alex Neil was quite good after the game, saying we were the most inventive side in the division and being pleased his side restricted us to so few chances, which they did and just regretting them not defending the goal properly.
Bit of a change from trying to find excuses like so many do.

There is nothing wrong with Phillips Bird and many things right!

.......

This article reflects Alex Neil's thoughts, which are spot on.

I’m not criticism I have about the post Stoke interviews was I couldn’t hear very clearly, especially the VK one as they were being done right next to the 3 lawn mowers in use

I really like Phil Bird’s passion, but he’s a terrible interviewer. He never asks questions, he tells the subject what they’re thinking and they have the chance to agree or contradict. It’s very presumptive.

As for the young female, she clearly prepares questions, but hasn’t yet developed an ability to switch on her feet based on answers provided that would allow for a better question, or to avoid covering similar ground

I think she’s very good. There’s a limit to the type of questions you could ask. She doesn’t need to be Paxman.

My favourite Phil Bird commentary moment was when he described one of the best goals seen at Turf Moor this century. Anyone guess which one I’m referring to?
