ARTICLE: Busy window closes for the Clarets
A look back at the January window with 20 players coming in, going out, both plus one new contract.

Yes a busy, productive transfer window, looking to the future and can only be good.
Re: ARTICLE: Busy window closes for the Clarets
Superb article ClaretTony. We also kept Nathan Tella which was another positive for us. He's one of the league's top scorers and it's encouraging to read since the window closed his desire to stay with us
Re: ARTICLE: Busy window closes for the Clarets
Looking towards the summer, and say we lose all our loan players, this is the squad we will be starting with:
Goalies
Muric
BPF
Franchi
Defenders
Roberts
Vitinho
Taylor
Ekdal
McNally
Al Dakhil
Midfielders
Cork
Brownhill
Cullen
Bastien
Wingers / attacking midfield
JBG
Zaroury
Benson
Twine
Churlinov
Strikers
Barnes (OOC)
Jay Rod
Foster
Obafemi
Not a bad base of young hungry players who will hopefully improve

Re: ARTICLE: Busy window closes for the Clarets
Not an easy task to accurately document all the comings and goings this window and obviously, overall I'm pleased with our business. I can't help the niggle in the back of my mind that another midfielder in the "engine room" would have given us more security against the inevitable injuries and suspensions from now until the season ends as I'm not 100% convinced by Bastien and he's our go to option and really our ONLY go to option in that area. Having said that, in VK I trust and with 2 defeats in 28 I'm starting to think maybe he knows what he's doing and with a bit of luck we might even sneak promotion!

Transfer windows are becoming dizzy spells for us.

Great article and transfer window, I'm honestly just trying to live in the moment as I can't believe how good we've got it at present.

Both might have further loans, but both could potentially be added to the first team squad. There's also the likes of Mellon, will he be good enough to push for a spot, or just another loan, hopefully at a higher level!
Exciting times for sure.

Good report. I thought for a moment that Barton had got his boots back on and was about to start for Duff at Barnsley.

Re: ARTICLE: Busy window closes for the Clarets
Thank you for capturing all of that - it was hard to keep track of so much activity
We've bought in four players who will be part of the first team squad/possible starters - moved on three (four if you count Norris) senior pros who you'd assume were on decent contracts and not involved at all. Our work securing loans for developing players and adding promising youngsters has been impressive too
So aside from significantly strengthening the team/squad our overall spend must have been offset by some decent salary savings - especially if we were - as some have suggested - still paying an out-of-work Sean Dyche

What a great write-up on an incredible transfer window. It's not until you see it all presented that you see how much had been done. A bit of a contrast to how we were doing it previously.
