It was a fine goalkeeping save by Soucek. How on earth was a penalty not given?ElectroClaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 2:24 pmWest Ham were damn lucky Chelsea didn't get a peno awarded as well when Soucek handled.

Re: VAR
Not been a great weekend for VAR has it, and these mistakes could potentially cost Arsenal the title or Brighton a European place.
I thought the whole idea of VAR was to correct the obvious errors, yet it's introduction seems to have caused more controversy if anything.

Re: VAR
VAR was meant to use technology that helped referees correct mistakes yet what's the point if lines have to be added in by human hand?tiger76 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 2:29 pmNot been a great weekend for VAR has it, and these mistakes could potentially cost Arsenal the title or Brighton a European place.

Re: VAR
Lee Mason never did like Arsenal but then the clown on VAR in the Brighton incident was even more culpable as he did actually draw the lines just not from the last defender which is truly unacceptable from a"professional" referee.Bordeauxclaret wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 1:33 pmGood old Lee Mason at it again.
Skysports saying he “forgot” to draw the lines to check for an offside.
The man is a clown.

Re: VAR
ever since offside was introduced I’ve never understood why the attacking team doesn’t place a player at (say) the eighteen yard line or even the penalty spot. It’s up to the defending team if they defend it or not. This way the “offside” player (not offside until they’re part of play) is stretching the field of play, which can only be an advantage to their team. It’s up to the defending team to deal with both the threat and the psychology of thatNotsosuperstevedavis wrote: ↑Sat Jan 07, 2023 10:19 pmSalah according to the rules has been played onside by the defender playing the ball.
Hate this version of the offside rule. If Salah hadnt been there in an offside position, the defender wouldnt be ‘forced’ into trying to defend against it.

Re: VAR
That is what I don't miss in the premiership, the championship is more enjoyable at least when you score you are not waiting for a VAR check from Mr Mason who's sat somewhere in a van and going to spoil your day , like he also did when reffing the game because he doesn't like us .

Re: VAR
We have to trust the on field officials. If a goal is scored it should only be checked if the assistant referee has raised their flag. If the flag isn't raised the goal stands.

Regading your comment about Arsenal; he was quick to award them an extremely debatable penalty very late in the game against us a few years back, which won them the game 1-0. It was awarded for an alleged push by Tarkowski on Ramsey at the back post following a corner. I thought at the time he wouldn't have awarded one to us had it been the other way round. He's a poor ref anyway in a league of poor refs.aclaretinstevenage wrote: ↑Sun Feb 12, 2023 2:46 pmLee Mason never did like Arsenal but then the clown on VAR in the Brighton incident was even more culpable as he did actually draw the lines just not from the last defender which is truly unacceptable from a"professional" referee.

Re: VAR
Usual suspects in the media trying to make up excuses.
“He was worried about the amount of time it was taking”
Unbelievable.
We’ve had one guy forget to draw the lines for offside and one guy draw the lines wrong this weekend.
Time for VAR II to check the VAR decisions.

Re: VAR
The one for me at the weekend was the Leicester disallowed goal against Spurs for offside. The two Spurs defenders were both playing him onside but it was their arms and shoulders. Their feet were further forward because they were turning to run back and Barnes toenail was just touching the drawn line. The offside rule and VAR are both a joke. Shame the Championship will be ruined by it next season.

VAR should be great but......... the way it is implemented in many cases, shows up the referees at Stockley park week in week out in making glaring errors.

Re: VAR
I utterly despise VAR. It was a prominent reason, amongst others, why I took a near three year sabbatical from attending matches on the Turf and even bothering to watch them on the telly.
I’m really not at all looking forward to being subjected to its caprice next season.

I may be over complicating things but I think being from Bolton he wouldn't want Burnley to be successful, but he would also I think prefer City to win the league over Arsenal. Whatever we do agree he is amongst the poorest of a poor league if Refs.
I see Keith Hackett and others are saying he should be sacked after this cock up,hopefully this will happen and we'll have seen the last of him.

Re: VAR
It would appear that, in Italy, VAR is now taking over from Goal Line Technology ----even technology it giving different opinions now, we had better employ some more officials to decide which set of officials overlooking both of these systems is correct.
