BPF 7 - had nowt to do
Vitinho 6 - tries but is so frustratingly wasteful
Al-Dakhil 7 - did everything required
Beyer 7 - same as above
Taylor 5 - really poor quality into the box
Cullen 7 - tried to create, kept us moving
Brownhill 5 - bit disappointing, zero guile
Obafemi 6 - playing against such a low block doesn’t suit his game
Twine 7* - our best attacker, tried to play forwards and make things happen, lacking a touch of sharpness with his finishing
Zaroury 5 - woeful end product, hope he’s not injured
Foster 5 - some good some not so good, needs time
Tella 7 - bit more direct and looked threatening
Roberts 7 - looked sharp and another goal for him
JBG 6 - bit wasteful near the end
Churlinov - not on long enough but thought he made a big difference with his direct play
Dervisoglu - same as Churlinov, but his impact was more clever link up play and movement
Hard game to mark given how utterly dominant we were and it was simply attack vs defence all night.

Weird vibe on the Turf tonight. There was more atmosphere at half time during Graham Branch's testimonial. The few who tried to get some songs going were given looks as if they were aliens wearing Rovers shirts. I know it's midweek, I know if you spend your money... etc etc. Kompany said he wanted the Turf to be like Hell. More like Hello Kitty tonight.

A couple of chaps shouting and singing like normal on a saturday were given evil eyes by many a surrounding fan.
People mumbling to the people next to em sort of winging about atmosphere or shouting. Big sighs when poor touches were made or shots went wide
Could tell that the majority dont go to league game. Not many season ticket holders in my area in their own seats anyway if any
Was very weird indeed

Re: Burnley v Fleetwood - Player Ratings
BPF - 6 - OK but very little to do.
Vitinho - 7 - some nice touches even if his final ball was off.
Taylor- 6 - solid enough defensively but tonight showed he can't play the Maatsen role stepping in, and might not ever be capable of it.
Al Dakhil - 6 - bit frenetic at times and his passing was a bit hit and miss, but OK.
Beyer- 7 - looked a Rolls Royce as he invariably does.
Cullen - 7 - very busy but his final pass wasn't always as good as it can be.
Brownhill- 5 - really uncomfortable in that right of a 3 role, although I don't think Obafemi's positioning helped.
Twine - 6 - grew into the game without ever really seizing it.
Obafemi- 4 - some nice touches but he never once stretched the game by moving wide or threatening the acres of space behind the full back - and we saw when Tella came on why that is do important to creating space all over the pitch.
Zaroury- 6 - bright enough and some nice moments but his final ball was intermittent and he didn't show his full range.
Foster- 5 - showed a few nice moments but clearly you want more from a marquee signing. Needs a goal, although he was another not helped by the set up.
Roberts - 7 - lively although less comfortable on the left.
JBG - 6 - couldn't really get going.
Tella - 7 - not everything came off but his movement was miles better.
Couple too many changes tonight disrupted our rhythm and we never managed to get it back. The idea of playing Obafemi as a sort of inside right didn't work - it made him easy for the right sided centre back to mark and limited Vitinho's options, Brownhill's space and also got in Foster's way - the space was behind that full back and he didn't exploit it once. Meanwhile with Vitinho making the width on that side and Taylor unable to replicate Maatsen's skill in stepping in alongside Cullen, the great strengths of our recent form (width and threat behind on both sides, and the coherence of the full backs making a 3 with Cullen) were lost.
No surprise then we were stilted initially and we struggled to gain fluency as a result, not helped by an expectant crowd that (perhaps understandably) rapidly got frustrated. That said, we did plenty enough to win against creditable stubborn opponents.
The draw is a real shame though- just as it was really opening up.

Very similar experience to what I had tonight. People on their phones, booing the team at half time, Longside lower playing some weird game of throwing stuff up to the upper when it's nil nil and we're pushing for a tough deserved winner. Felt like people had put more effort into their little cardboard signs asking for shirts than paying any attention to the actual football. Even heard an air horn at one point like it was a fairground up Towneley. Bizarre vibes. Don't want to sound like I'm having a sulk or playing SuperFan but it did sort of ruin the evening a bit.4midable wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 10:37 pmMate. JHU

Re: Burnley v Fleetwood - Player Ratings
Completely dominated, despite bedding newer players in and got the goal we deserved in the end. The sending off was harsh and didn't really help us as they just sat in even more. Their keeper was man of the match, this would have been 3 or 4 nil otherwise. Fleetwood defended excellently, they can be proud of their efforts.
Peacock-Farrell 6 smoking jacket affair
Vitinho 7 involved in another goal but he's a frustrating watch at times. We know he's got that spark but he plays too safe too often.
Al-Dakhil 7
Beyer 7
Taylor 7 unlucky not to bag his first goal for us tonight, 3 decent attempts at it
Cullen 7
Brownhill 6 less good against teams who sit in
Twine 6 some smart stuff and some not. Needs to impose himself on the game a bit more but in fairness he's often asking for the ball but not getting it
Zaroury 6 saw loads of the ball and wasn't hugely effective with any of it
Obafemi 5
Foster 5 trying too hard, you can tell he's a bit too desperate to bag a goal in the way he's making the wrong decisions with his finishing.
Roberts 7 tasty little finish and he did well on t'other side
Tella 6 added a bit of zip and that ball he fired across was begging for someone to take a chance on it
Gudmundsson 6
A bit disjointed but job done in the end. You can tell the players who are first choice in the team flying high at the top of the league with against those who are coming in and out. Great draw in the next round for the players and manager. Bum draw for the fans.

Re: Burnley v Fleetwood - Player Ratings
Churlinov came on after 74 mins so doesn't qualify. Players have to come on by the 70th minute (or 100 minutes if there is extra time), they have always been the rules.
Re: Burnley v Fleetwood - Player Ratings
Taylor 7*
Think I’ve been harsh on Charlie forgot about his shot being the one that eventually led to the goal and it was his header cleared off the line.

Re: Burnley v Fleetwood - Player Ratings
Pleased to have got through, but it was frustrating against a team who clearly can defend well but can't cross the half way line
Foster has to show more than that, and there were balls zipping across the box all night that no one get anywhere near, and that is a serious issue
We look good when we have two genuine wingers on the either side, and I don't think either Foster or Obefemi looked comfortable in their roles.
We looked a bit off it, but still did more than enough to win though
BPF - 6 nothing to do. I mean, he had nothing to do
Vitinho 6 - not brilliant, but some good bits
Al 6 - looked a bit off it tonight, probably not helped by Fleetwood not attacking at any stage
Beyer 7 - fine
Taylor 6 - he's a left back/centre half, he's more than a little uncomfortable trying to do the full back thing that we play
Zaroury 6 - had his man on toast, but wasteful with final ball. I hope its not an injury as he is very key to our system
Brownhill 5 - poor, huge drop in his standards
Cullen 7* - kept us ticking over
Twine 7 - grew into it I thought, but this was a game you'd expect to grab by the scruff of the neck and he didn't really
Obefemi 5 - not great, but not sure its his position
Foster 5 - could have scored three, should have scored at least one, needs time but you'd expect him to be doing better by now
JBG 6
Churlinov 7 - no messing, we need to start with two wingers and he made enough of a difference to justify a start
Tella 7 - gave us some much needed width
Roberts 7 - again, looked miles better than the people he replaced
Gutted about the draw, we will give it a go but we'll need City to rest a load of players I fear

Re: Burnley v Fleetwood - Player Ratings
BPF 6 Little/Nothing to do, looked comfortable enough with his distribution
Vitinho 6 Got forward well especially 1st half but end product left a bit to be desired
Al-Dakhil 7 Looked comfortable, slides easily into VK`s system
Beyer 8 Class, just pure class but will have sterner tests
Taylor 6 Good defensively but poor going forward until last few minutes
Cullen 7 Steady as usual
Brownhill 6 Poor tonight, didn`t really create or contribute much byhis own standards
Obafemi 6 Needs more game time but saw enough to make me think he will be an asset
Twine 6 Had one or two moments but overall wasn`t that effective
Zaroury 6 Service into the box wasn`t as good as usual but when he did there wasn`t anybody in there to get on the end of it
Foster 5 Not seeing a £10 million pound or whatever it was quality player, hope it`s just a matter of time for him to adjust to
English football
Gudmundsson 6 Looked to try to make things happen
Roberts 7 Out of position but did what he had to and he scored the goal +1
Tella 7 A breath of fresh air, his enthusiasm his willingness to give all for the team is a credit to him, really hope he becomes
a permanent fixture

BPF 6 not a lot to do but did fine
Vitinho 7
Al Dakhil 6
Beyer 7 quality and lovely twist and turn 1st half
Taylor 7 limited going forward though
Cullen 7 mom
Brownhill 6
Obafemi 6
Twine 6
Zaroury 6 delivery not so good
Foster 5 not at required level yet
Tella 6
Roberts 7 did well
JBG 6
Churlinov very effective and direct
Nowhere near as fluid in the final 3rd. Some of the delivery and final touches were poor but completely dominated the play. Great defensive display and goalkeeping from them. Shame about the draw but at least it will show us what we could be up against next season and help us prepare better.

Re: Burnley v Fleetwood - Player Ratings
Glad you clarified that rule Tony; I always thought that “played 20 minutes or more” meant just that. Saves me having to check how much extra time was played, when the sub came on etcClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Mar 01, 2023 11:11 pmChurlinov came on after 74 mins so doesn't qualify. Players have to come on by the 70th minute (or 100 minutes if there is extra time), they have always been the rules.

BPF - 6 - nothing to do
Vitinho - 6 - another game to see why Roberts is ahead of him in pecking order, wasteful and holds onto the ball too long at times
Bayer - 7 - did what he needed to do
Al Dakhil - 7 - as above
Taylor - 6 - looked to be pushing for that goal tonight more than ever, few poor choices in final third
Cullen - 7 - busy and kept moving the ball well
Brownhill - 6 - trying in and around the box to create but nothing came off really
Zaroury - 6 - hit and miss at the minute, the opposition double and tripled up on him to be fair though
Twine - 8* - the main threat going forward for the majority, looking for openings and at least tried a few from distance, granted they were blocked by last ditch defending but at least he was trying
Obafemi - 7 - playing more of an inside right than a right winger, his strength on the ball, and great first touch was there to be seen in the first half, his link up tonight was between Vitinho, Foster and Brownhill, and between the lot of them, there wasn’t a particularly good game at all
Foster - 5 - I’m hoping a goal gives him confidence and he comes good, I think any of our other forwards score the 1 on 1, his link up play is always ‘safe’ numerous times hit it back towards CBs where the space was, when he tried to find someone closer it was always behind the man or to a FTFC player. Happily hold my hands up come the end of the season if he comes good, but for me, looks well off it.
All subs - 7 - did enough to get us over the line.
Noticed Obafemi has had a few poor ratings on this thread, all about opinions, but some saying he wasn’t doing what Tella did in hugging the line and stretching the play, others saying he needs to settle in. He’s scored 2 from the bench, he’s a striker. If he played through the middle, with Tella linking up with him, as we know they have a great connection, he scores a couple of goals against fleetwood. I think his performance has shown up worse due to the players around him.

Re: Burnley v Fleetwood - Player Ratings
I don't think the argument (certainly not mine) is that Obafemi needed to replicate the role Tella does, which is to start wide and make out-to-in runs. That may well not be something he's comfortable with.CryerBFC wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 8:36 amBPF - 6 - nothing to do

But if he's starting narrower, then given his pace, you'd expect him to be making in-to-out runs to provide an option for Vitinho down the line and to stretch the defence. He didn't do that - not even on the rare occasions we broke up Fleetwood attacks and so were counter-attacking. He basically played the game with his back to goal, up against the centre back - and was just too static as a result.
Re: Burnley v Fleetwood - Player Ratings
I think Obafemi could have been utilised better on a quick counter attack. I agree with you in he ended up being a little static at time, when one of his main attributes is pace and strength. The way Fleetwood set up, lose the ball and get back as quick as possible, didn’t allow the space in behind that he would have no doubt liked to run into, but I feel, what he did do, he did well, given the circumstances.claretspice wrote: ↑Thu Mar 02, 2023 8:41 amI don't think the argument (certainly not mine) is that Obafemi needed to replicate the role Tella does, which is to start wide and make out-to-in runs. Re: Burnley v Fleetwood - Player Ratings
Really hard game to mark. I know it's a cliche but them going down to 10 made it harder to break them down, it was basically a training game of attack vs defence for the second half. The travails of Foster and Obafemi tonight show just how hard it is to lead the line. Shows how good Barnes has been for us over the years. What I'd say about Foster is that he got himself into 4 or 5 good situations, other than that, he needs a lot of work, hopefully he'll come good. Also Al Dakhil looks a prospect doesn't he?

Also I HATE the draw being on the same day as the actual round, as if you get an iffy one, it feels like a massive let down.
Driving home, it felt like we'd gone through and been knocked out in the same night. I was pondering if it was all worth it, with the injuries we've picked up in this competition.
And it also really irked me Chappers calling us out as "Vincent Kompany's Burnley" in an official FA cup draw

There was no pace or thrust about us last night. We kept the ball well enough but against lower league opposition moving the ball quickly sometimes opens the spaces up and we just didn’t do that. It was very pedestrian. Difficult when the opposition put 11 men behind the ball but we probably needed more technical players up front as there was no space in behind for anyone to run into. A frustrating watch….but in the hat. A real shame we’ve drawn that lot away from home….

BPF- 6. Nothing to do
Vitinho -7. Lively as it got but his final ball was lacking.
Al Dakhil -8. Looks a real find.
Beyer-6. Not his usual utterly dominant self.
Taylor-7. Decent, unlucky not to score.
Cullen- 7. Ran things well but occasionally scrappy. Not convinced he got touched in the head but want to see a few other angles.
Brownhill -5. Not great.
Twine-6. Not great but let down by the other attackers, he made some clever runs that nobody used.
Zaroury- 5. Kept quiet.
Obafemi -5. Some good runs but nothing to show for them.
Foster-4. I feel for the lad but he struggled. Some very bad mistouches and two chances spurned, overcomplicated the first one and seems to be trying too hard to catch the eye and get kick-started. Concerned at the fee based on early showings but we've not had anyone click instantly/continually in the striker role this year.
Roberts- 7. Did well made an impact
Tella-6. Improved us but not his best compared to some recent performances.
JBG-7. Really helped us sustain the attacking pressure.

Re: Burnley v Fleetwood - Player Ratings
BPF 6 Nothing to do.
Vithino 7 Gave width options but the balls played to him weer ponderous and slow.
Al Dakhil 7 Solid
Beyer 7 Class player
Taylor 6 Too slow in distributing the ball looked like he had fallen out with Zaroury
Cullen 7 Lots of effort and industry, over acted in the sending off.
Brownhill 6 Worked his socks off at times but final ball lacked imagination
Twine 7* Thought he was the star in midfield looking better each match
Zaroury 5 Did not get the ball quickly enough and when he did he turned infield every single time easy to deal with
Obafemi 5 Just did not click
Foster 4.5 Did not look like he had the guile to break the deadlock
Roberts 7 Helped transform the game and worked really well with Churlinov
JBG 6 Not really in the game except from one short corner on the left
Tella 7 looked lively and a class above the other forwards
Churlinov 7 Looked really good and took on the full back and was willing to drive to the line to cross instead of just turning infield.
Dervisoglu na Not really enough time to show but what he did was encouraging .
I thought the so called lack of atmosphere last night was more a case of there not really being a match to watch, it was attack and defence even before the very harsh sending off, I was amazed when at half time the stats showed only 84% possession I thought it seemed more like 90% plus.
We lacked a final product and guile and were frustrated by a team who got a nose bleed when they gained a corner late on in the first half but that is what we should have expected from them.

Re: Burnley v Fleetwood - Player Ratings
From tv
Bpf 7 how do you mark someone who had nothing a all to do.
Vitinho 7
El Akdil 7
Beyer 7
Taylor 6 a bit laboured last night
Cullen 8 nevet stopped
Brownhill 6
Twine 7 good in bits
Obafemi 6
Foster 6
Zaroury 6 last couple of games his cross and shot selection have not been great
Roberts 8 plus one for goal
Jbg 6
Tella 8 only attacking playet to get at them and behind them
Churlinov 7 some nice touches
Very difficult game to mark, they shut up shop from the first minute and defended with a back five behind a defensive midfield 4, leaving no space at all for our forward players.
