Blackburn Rovers appreciation post
Just seen they've beaten Sheffield. Cheered me up, that has. Thought the result today for us was a frustrating one, but we've extended our lead over 2nd by another point. Would've taken that before kickoff. Rovers potentially have helped bring the title forward a game. That's very kind of them.

There's an epidemic on this board of calling Sheffield United "Sheffield" and something needs to be done about it
Re: Blackburn Rovers appreciation post
There's no epidemic, do your research bro, it's a hoax.

Re: Blackburn Rovers appreciation post
Sheffield United have a massive game midweek away at Reading as it’s their game in hand on everyone. Reading have been woeful away but not too bad at home. Sheffield United, like us, have played a lot lately with the cup and replays on top of the league. I’d be a bit nervous if I was them, though, they haven’t really been playing that well since the World Cup break and had a very kind run of games until lately.

Am I the only one who wouldnt mind them going up?
Sacrilege I know but we need a proper derby next year - Plus we know they're usually good for 6 points.
I don't hold the same disdain for them as some on here as Leeds have that spot and by some distance.
I was hoping earlier on in the season that Preston might make some gains and challenge for the playoffs.
Anyway, good result for everyone today.

I can’t see why anyone is the slightest bit worried about Boro (or Sheffield Utd to be honest) catching us this season. The odds are just too long for that to happen. I am relaxed that we are promoted already.

Sheff United will bottle this massively over the next few weeks.
Re: Blackburn Rovers appreciation post
Sooner we win the title though, the better we can rest players for UTD (Manchester) in the semis at Wembley, and Grimsby in the final.

Re: Blackburn Rovers appreciation post
Well the original “Sheffield” were “Wednesday” who played at Bramall Lane before moving to Owlerton, which at the time, was not incorporated into Sheffield. In fact, weren’t Wednesday the original “blades” before adopting “owls” (for obvious reasons)daveisaclaret wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 5:55 pmThere's an epidemic on this board of calling Sheffield United "Sheffield" and something needs to be done about it

This was before any regular organised leagues and rules were thought of, and often games were a mix of football and rugby rules.

They currently compete in the Northern Premier League Division One East. Founded in October 1857, the club is recognised by FIFA as the oldest existing club still playing football in the world

Located in a leafy suburb of Sheffield 10 to the West of the city centre and some 800 feet above sea level lies Sandygate Road, officially the oldest football ground in the World and home of Hallam FC since 1860, thus making them the second oldest football club in the World to Sheffield FC.tiger76 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 04, 2023 7:08 pmSheffield FC founded in 1857, they played their 1st games against Hallam, and later on played Notts County in an 18 a side match under "Nottingham Rules".

After the formation of Hallam Cricket club in 1804 by the landlord of the Plough Inn the club blossomed. By the 1850's it had more than three hundred members. Many of these members, familiar with the team football being played by Sheffield FC (formed in 1857), wished to create a less exclusive club led by cricketers. Thus in 1860, Hallam FC was born.
The first ever challenge match took place against Sheffield FC on Boxing Day 1860 at Sandygate Road. This is still believed to be the first ever Inter Club game and the oldest to survive until today.

Re: Blackburn Rovers appreciation post
I am glad we don't play rovers in a couple of weeks now, they are bang on form and could very well still finish second, couple that with our injury problems I feel if we were to play them they would at least get a point and very well could beat us. Hopefully by the end of April we will have some players back.
Re: Blackburn Rovers appreciation post
I was always a fan of Jan Dahl tomasson, and if they have to go up at some point, I would prefer them to be led by somebody I liked, rather than a Lampard Gerrard type character (not least because it would probably mean that they'd found a mountain of cash somewhere).
Re: Blackburn Rovers appreciation post
Erm we all missing something.. rovers are 6 points off automatic if they continue at this rate of knots there favourites.no appreciation from me.
