Private Dentistry in East Lancs

So, fellow Clarets, a subject that has arisen previously within these wonderful pages with much debate relating to allegedly poor Government contracts selling NHS dentistry down the river versus the dentists themselves potentially holding the country to ransom.
My own NHS dentist used pandemic/lockdown to edge NHS patients off the books and as far as I am aware the only available treatment is for those with a fairly hefty income.
I've just received an 'estimate ' (it isn't even a quote) for a posterior composite restoration on a molar (£178) and three Emax Overlays (it's basically a brand name for a crown) on molars and a Bicuspid ( £785 each).
And this is apparently the future of dentistry. Will Rishi sort it? I'm thinking not.
There might be other options...dental tourism abroad...lying on my lounger with a 'sex on the beach' would be preferable but booking a holiday/dental treatment abroad and still coming back with some cash makes sense.
I'm just wondering if any fellow Clarets have recent experience of sensibly priced dental treatment, home or abroad?

Just gonna throw this out there:

One of my good buddies, Dr.Wade, fairly recently opened up a practice in Wilpshire (between Blackburn/Clitheroe) 'Wilpshire Dental Practice)

A brand new, small practice that is trying to build it's client base and have the upmost priority in optimal dental care - what's right for the patient.

I have changed to Dr.Wade (even though it's 15 miles+ further than than my local practice)

Metal crown on rear molar done last week at dentist on colne rd (queensgate area) £420. Suspect ceramic / enamel finish for a front tooth would have been similar price u have been quoted.

My father was a dentist. He used to pull teeth in our kitchen at the week ends (local anaesthetic!) if people had a genuine emergency and they lived close by and it was pointless travelling and opening his surgery. He even pulled mine (teeth!!) in there (but sadly didn't want to waste the anaesthetic on "family"!!)

Park House dentist in Accy are private but follow NHS pricing, basically if you pay NHS banding pricing but even if you are in benefits. If you usually pay it’s exactly the same as an NHS dentist

Would be great if you could turn up to the Turf early for a game, see a doctor, a dentist and get your hair cut on the concourse.

Never a truer word said in jest. This maybe - in the absence of the NHS - a way forward for the club to sponsor a series of mobile dental sessions for the community.
I myself live in Cornwall where we are on a waiting list and have been for a long time. My wife and I are signed up with an NHS Dentist in London.

You arrange to fly out on a Sunday and get free taxiwith b and b in a hotel then go for an examination on Monday flying back late Monday. You are given a totally free examination including x-rays and a care plan discussed .You can go onto their website and English is spoken by the staff.
You can then arrange a return trip or not as you wish

Full set of veneers {13 teeth} was quoted £9,000 in UK, moved to Spain €4380 for the same. Treatment, service & final product fantastic.

A good dentist couldn't possibly give an estimate without a thorough examination of the teeth,gums,bone, of which x rays are an essential part. At least 30 minutes if you ate talking about coins,implants,veneers etc.
Maybe offer to deduct the cost of this if the patient goes ahead with the treatment, but you can't run a high expense business like a Dental Practice on thin air.

Ah I do love some of the insightful ideas that Clarets offer within these pages. There are some interesting points made and helpful suggestions which I'm following up so thank you one and all.

Dental work can be frighteningly expensive.

I had a fall back in October 2019 and smashed my chin against a stone in a rockery. The force damaged my top teeth and one by one I’ve had several extractions to the point that I’ve not got enough remaining.

It’s now a case of dentures or implants. As much as implants would have been preferable, there’s no certainty that it would have worked because of my diabetes and the cost in any case was hardly worth it given my age now.

I’ve had to go for dentures and even that’s not inexpensive but considerably cheaper than the implants.

Can't help the OP , as I dont live in the area,but just to add when I moved to Leicestershire 3 years ago, we soon experienced COVID and following this I spent two whole days on the phone to local dentists to see if they would register me as a new NHS patient. Not one was willing though, and I must have called 20, but they were happy to put me on their long waiting list.

Sadly I needed treatment urgently and had no choice but to go private with one of the highly recommended dentists in my town. I subscribe to their dental plan which means free check ups and all hygiene work, plus a healthy discount on any dental work.I have required two implants and two crowns where I believe the NHS don't support you . The service has been exceptional and on 3 occasions where I have needed treatment urgently I have been seen within 2 hours, and I can walk there.Yes there has been a cost, but I don't think it works out a lot more than with my old dentist on the NHS-I do however have the best dentist i have used in almost 70 years
