Dear Lord,
They’ve scored so many goals against us, and we so few against them. They’ve won so many times and we so rarely.
Let not them run us ragged, as we have forgiven them for running us ragged in the past.
Smite us not for our sins. But if it be your will to smite us please start with the tall blond fellow in sky blue.
In the interests of earthly fairness and all that is good and wholesome under Heaven, please let us beat them. Just this once.
Also, please let the niggle in my calf clear up before I jump up and down to celebrate your heavenly benevolence.
Amen.
