Re: Johann
He was always top quality when involved. The real mystery is why he couldn't stay fit under the previous regime but has had a fairly clean bill of health since Kompany walked through the door.

Whatever the reason, he's been key to a lot of our good stuff this season.

Re: Johann
He has always been absolutely class and a consummate professional. I’m just thrilled to bits for him that he has managed to get fully fit again and been able to show us what he’s capable of consistently. He is a pleasure to watch. I bloody love him!

Re: Johann
Always been a player in there.
He's had crap luck with injuries.
We weren't always expansive enough for some of his ways of playing either.
But that's only an opinion.

I sat next to his wife at the pre season friendly against Crewe a few years back. Charming lady.

Could always see the number 10 role in him, he played that at Charlton before he was with us

Re: Johann
He's a player reborn and is showing real class now. Just watched a post-match interview with him on Twitter where he made it very clear that the team are chasing the points record ...exciting stuff to hear !
Re: Johann
Masterstroke by Kompany identifying his profile for that left sided attacking midfield role. I’ve really enjoyed watching him there. Takes up some really intelligent positions and of course has that left foot to deliver. I think he’ll be a very useful squad option for that role in the Prem.

I think he's always been very good. It has helped for him to stay fit, play in an attacking side and dropping down a league.

I didn't see it at the time, but I almost feel sorry for him he spent so long out wide when he's so good centrally!

Suits the number 8/inside left role, his best position.

Re: Johann
We have a squad now and rotation.
If you are not fit or need to be managed minutes wise that’s what happens.
Look at the way Tella was brought off after 60 minutes a lot earlier in the season.
THB now….Benson etc
JBG played for Iceland and when he came back was on the bench even though VK has definitely had him as one of his preferred midfield starters in the last couple of months.
Of course it may well just be that JBG has just got over his previous injuries and not being as unlucky as he was before.
Either way it’s great to see him having such a good season and play a key role…..just like pretty much all the ex Dyche players have played at some point this season.

Re: Johann
I've been a critic of his in the past but he's had a very good season. We have a number of unpredictable players such as Tella, Benson and Zaroury who opt for the risky option more often than not, but JBG is usually a safe pair of hands who looks to retain possession but combines this with the most reliable end product in the squad. I think he's a confidence player though and he's playing with such a spring in his step at the moment, and this was more evident than ever last night when he was given quite a lot of freedom, made some positive runs and a few great crosses and topped the performance off with a couple of goals. Along with a change to the system, he turned the game last night.

Re: Johann
I don't really see why it's a surprise. Gudmundsson came in to improve upon players like Arfield and Boyd who were standouts in the Championship and he was a better player for us than them in the Premier League. Makes sense that he's a cut above this division to me. Albeit the injuries could have been a problem.

Re: Johann
He's also come out of his shell ....he was always quite & kept his head down under Dyche.
Now he's jumping around & exuberant....he's like a new man. Always thought he was an excellent player but Kompany has got the best out of him.
