This post just highlights how very little you know about the history of this country.
Another person that’s blaming his poor conditions on the royal family when he has no idea.
I suggest you get out of your circle and actually learn
Enlighten me, what am I missing
We have a long history of common man banding together against the crown for more rights - did you never learn about Wat Tyler?
The only reason England/UK become a constitutional monarchy was through a revolution in the 17th century - it’s not like power was voluntarily given up.

He’s a woke virtue signaller
Been clear for some time

that would be a first for me.
Definitely not that, but still, I’d prefer to be a ‘woke virtue signaller’ than a bloke that bums over fancy watches and ‘feels pride’ watching people cock about LARPing in ridiculous attire in golden carriages

The royal family are the best part of being British. Something to actually be proud of.
All these losers that want rid of them just need to grow up and stop blaming them for the own problems.
Can you explain why you feel pride in them? What if by the luck of the draw the pedophiles best mate Andrew was next in line ahead of Charles?

Out of interest what do you feel proud about with this country?
Seriously anything?
The big events the royal family pull in my opinion are better than anything on the planet.

I feel proud about the beautiful scenery/countryside we have, places like the Lake District, Cornwall etc. Some of the great sports people and scientists we've produced. Amazing everyday people who selflessly give up their time to try and help others.
I feel much more pride in these things than a family who inherit unbelievable wealth and privilege, simply because of bloodline.

I'd much rather we had things like a functioning NHS, or a rail network you could rely on.
Don't worry, if the Pageantry was run by the same people as the NHS it would be a sh*t show with 5,999 in various roles and 1 person actually on Parade.

It’s going to be a sad day when we further erode the traditions and values that made this country a great place for the benefit of a few.
Seems to be the way of the modern world unfortunately

Pound to a pinch of sh1t the "anti monarchy Pro republican" banner wavers where the same ones on the streets of London waving Trump go home banners, dissing a democratically elected head of state.

Are you aware of the concept of ‘the invention of tradition’ ? If not have a look into it .. it is thought provoking in many ways.

Away from the pro /anti Royal debate, I thought that Charles looked at best uncomfortable to more than a little unwell. It could be nerves I suppose, but he is used to world wide attention. I looked at his facial expressions and he appeared unhappy, even upset. I can't put my finger on it, but he didn't look right

It wasn’t but whatever - don’t forget a good % of that makes its way back via taxation (that the royals don’t pay) and you know, keeps people from dying?
Also, I mean equivalent budget as in - the amount spent on that handful of people scaled up to the general populace - i was denying the notion that setting up some 16th century esque circus with that budget must therefore mean the NHS is full of dossers - which couldn’t be further from the truth

for those clamouring for this country to be a republic i say this:
not so long ago we had a massive constitutional upheaval where we were promised (by some) a land of milk and honey.
one dog's breakfast later and folk are still on about the grass being greener?
getting rid of the monarchy would be costly, divisive and ultimately pointless. ring any bells?
if you really care about this country go outside and pick some litter up.

But what about those people who’s jobs it is to pick litter up who rely on getting paid? If there’s no litter they will lose their jobs!

I think if you looked at the correlation of those who support the monarchy to those who voted brexit and vote Tory you will find extremely strong correlation.
In the same way those that didn’t will probably more likely to oppose the monarchy and not vote Tory..
Of course the little englanders will suggest that means that those that don’t are clearly Unpatriotic etc etc but as I’ve argued it’s faux Patriotism.
It’s a relic of the past and needs confining to the depths of history
How can we claim to be a fair and equal democracy, when a weird family live a class above the rest on name alone? Whilst paying no tax or anything
It’s abhorrent

European/Scandinavian countries still have royal families. They just have a more realistic (IMO) attitude to them.
Time to move into the present.

Seems to me that we could all get what we wanted if we abolished the monarchy, and those that love the pageantry went to military tattoos or the Proms instead. If you still feel like you're missing something, maybe being looked down on, you could always go to a golf club. There have to be ways of satisfying your need for deference and servitude that don't involve subjugating others.

Not selling it down the **** heap and buzzing off a bunch of toffs in red tunics
Which will result in more tax and a continually crap service.
The whole of the nhs needs completely re structuring. It’s a complete mess from top to bottom.

Why? Becauseb he has a point?
firstly, he is as thick as beans.
second, if you could give me a definitive figure for the net cost of the royal family you'd be a genius.
the amount of foreigners who flocked to london this weekend with money to spend is immeasurable.

Away from the pro /anti Royal debate, I thought that Charles looked at best uncomfortable to more than a little unwell. It could be nerves I suppose, but he is used to world wide attention. I looked at his facial expressions and he appeared unhappy, even upset. I can't put my finger on it, but he didn't look right
Maybe he realised how ridiculous the whole charade looked in the year 2023.

A load of inbreds prancing around in dodgy gear.
No better than a night out in Blackburn.

Perhaps you should look more deeply into the reasons for that before condemning the NHS itself.

Nothing really to counter in a substance form apart from how many tourists flocked to London for this 1 off rare occurrence, it doesn't happen every day but we fund them every day. I'm a massive royalist but when it comes down to money they are sponging parasites.

I think you should change your name to ‘TuftonStreetBuffoon93’ - it would be more representative of your posts.
You come with that attitude about the nhs but I guarantee if you ever had the misfortune of having a serious health incident, you’ll be grateful that you’d have it on hand and wouldn’t be subjugated to a potential lifetime or decade of hefty payments

I have had private healthcare ever since a family passed away due to how long they had to wait for treatment.
Best decision I ever made. I can be seen straight away in a top facility and have absolutely no hassle.
