Will we see a new dimension to our game plan next season?

Post by northeastclaret » Sun May 07, 2023 3:58 pm

During the season I went to Holland and was able to watch three matches from their top two divisions.

What struck me was the similarity of how VK has been moulding our play with one major difference.

The teams I saw like to play with two wingers but they all had number 10 type players in the Jack Grealish style ( usually two )who looked to take players on or play one/twos going into the penalty area from a central position , real flair players who also often won free kicks.

We have obviously done brilliantly this year, but with VK trying to sign Ohare it looks like it’s a player and style he will be keen to recruit?

The nearest I think we got to that type of player in that position this season I think was Gudmundson. Brownhill hasn’t the guile and Twine someway still to develop?

To have the same flair down the middle as on the wings would make us some team and even more exciting to watch?

Interesting point...! Stephen Defour would do well in this team in an advanced middle field role... Or would have rather...

Over the last couple of months, both Roberts and Maatsen seem to have been pushing into that kind of position.

It will be somewhat different to our last visit to the Premier league, that's for certain.

Just wondering exactly who is going to be on Vinny's shopping list?
Hopefully Maatsen, Tella, Beyer and THB will get sorted and stay.
