Padiham v Bury - Tuesday 15th August.
Shame it’s a Tuesday night for Padiham, Bury will still bring a few hundred but Padiham will lose out on loads of £££ with it not being on a Saturday.

The wages they will be paying will be very good at that level too, should walk the league.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Jul 06, 2023 5:57 pmIt’s a very good number for a club playing at the level they’ll be playing at
Tom Pope ex Port Vale was on £800 a week at Congleton in that league, to put into perspective Padiham players are probably on around £50-£150 a week.

Bury's first away league game is at Colne FC on Tuesday 1st August. Would imagine they'll take a fair few up the hill for that one. Padiham are not the only non league team round here.

They have some high profile figures that could help their cause and sell a few tickets..... Trippier and the Nevilles...

I always thought both Bradford and Warrington were Rugby cities/towns, although Bradford might have enough interest both ways.ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 7:37 amWarrington has a population of over 200k with no decent team.

Re: Bury are back at Gigg Lane
The Manchester Football Association was in competition with the London FA and preferred a game more rugby based game.. and why the Manchester ‘football’ clubs joined the Lancashire FA.. a good choice the Manchester/Sheffield version of the game no longer exists, but was more akin to the later Rugby League.ClaretinJapan wrote: ↑Fri Jul 07, 2023 12:31 amI always thought both Bradford and Warrington were Rugby cities/towns, although Bradford might have enough interest both ways.

Wakefield is the biggest urbanisation never to have a league club. Population, and this shocked me, of 345k.ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 7:37 amWarrington has a population of over 200k with no decent team.
Re: Bury are back at Gigg Lane
That's basically because they are posh places, and historically, football was for oiks.JohnDearyMe wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 7:10 amInteresting, always thought the same about the Bristol teams. There must be a few of the bigger English towns that for various reasons have never had any decent football teams, like Guildford or Bedford
I was in Guildford for a year, and it is seriously up itself. The locals look down their noses at the influx of students and squaddies. Those that like football go along the road to Aldershot. The Billy big balls types (and there are lots of those) seemed to support Chelsea, mainly. Guildford has a top class hockey team.
I also have connections in Bedford through shorts junior. That's a much nicer place than Guildford, but it's rugby country, (Bedford and Ampthill) and those into football also go down the road to premier league Luton Town.

If anyone wants to watch the revived Bury FC, they'll be playing Colne at Holt House on Tuesday 1st August (league game).
