New food/drink rules at the Turf

Post by fidelcastro » Fri Aug 11, 2023 6:58 pm

All has to be pre ordered. I don't mind that, but the meal deal no longer exists, no lids for the cups and seemingly we're now on rations, as the cup is only half filled.

I've made my feelings known to the staff, who called someone more senior. I was given a free (half) drink as compensation, but I won't be buying anything from there again until they improve it.

Premier League my arse!

Soak up the atmosphere instead of winging about minor things

I didn't want a beer.

If you didn't get your full pint, I'm sure you'd be the first to complain

Burger bar outside the park view, now charging 2.50 for a coffee, sure it was 1.50 last season!

When I made my feelings felt, on the price increase, the woman serving me said....complain and email the club about it,cos we are not happy with it either!!!

welcome to the premier league!!

Then there was the messing about in the concourse, with the new machines going down, and the bars empty of customers!

Went in the FZ prior to the game.

I think £5/6 a pint has gone too far. £6.50 for pie and peas? £7 for a chicken tikka wrap? Both were ok, but way too expensive.

(Don’t know about the chippy/burger or pizza outlets)

I suspect many will look elsewhere.

The self order kiosks were slick though.

Queued for 20 minutes before the game at the bar on Longside upper.Walked back to the middle section of the concourse and there was a bar set up with a machine pouring 6 pints at a time.Got one there at half time then when the second half started they had lots pulled and not sold so quite a few of us got a freebie.

Last season, you could walk up to pretty much any kiosk 10-30 minutes before a game kicked off (with a near full house on) and get served quickly. Tonight, the queues were very long just for a coffee.

I still bought one, but again…

A 20p increase

Can’t buy a white coffee…have to add your own milk

Less water put into cups

Have to put your own lids on.

They’re small things but it just feels a bit shoddy and backwards, not progressive.
I thought queues and waiting times were supposed to be shorter and quicker??

Paying the extra 20p for a far inferior product (yes yes yes, it’s just a brew) was the bit that irked me.

Got the early with the roadwork panic- outside the BL, chips and curry sauce- £4.50.
Guy next to me has his pants pulled down for £11 for a hot dog and chips.

Absolute waste of time, entered ground, queued to preorder half time drinks, no bene n hots left( unbelievable not to get a bene in Burnley) half time queued to pick up drinks.....what's the point in queueing up twice !!

I know some fans don't like those who turn up too drunk (I don't either), but if I'm watching a game with beer in me (i.e. I'm not the one driving) I don't understand why anyone wouldn't tank up before going in. I suppose I can handle my beer well enough so it's easy for me to say, but honestly football stadiums are a complete rip off. It's sometimes more difficult to do this away, but for home games, by tanking up outside, the feeling of being drunk should last into about the second half if you time it right, so for the sake of sobering up a bit during the last 30 mins of the game you save yourself a fortune over a season.

The system worked rather well early on in the fan zone, although the queue did look long nearer to kick off.

In the jimmy mac lower before the game, again the system seemed to be coping. A friend preordered beers for HT. waited 15 minute. Gave up in the end. The problem seemed to be the slow pouring rather than the ordering system beer wise.

Always going to be teething problems but its not a shock that there’s going to be a mad rush of custom at HT.

Chelsea 09/10 season i think had a 4 pint tap, rotherham i recall had a pint which filled from the bottom very quickly.

Another friend ordered food to be told they had sold out of the item by the time he’d been served. Then had to queue again to get a refund.

I absolutely love Haffner’s pies but £6.50 for pie and peas in the fanzone was daylight robbery.

Unless you've had a long drive or rushed there straight from work I don't get why anyone pays the ridiculous prices for food at footy?
Surely you can last 2 hours without an overpriced pie/hotdog?

No sign of these new machines at my end of the North Upper, are they rolling them out gradually?

Disappointed there are no meal deals. Bought a round of 3 flat beers and a pie for £22.50

(For those who might say I should have eaten before, I didn't get chance due to work).

It’s all part of the match day experience for me, crap pint and either an undercooked or burnt pie.

Burnley is definitely one of the worst offerings in the top two divisions though, I was convinced this season would be better as I’d heard we had new pies, but it was probably even worse 😂

No pre-ordering in the Longside upper. Massive disappointment.

But not as disappointing as as them STILL serving San Miguel / Carlsberg. Was hoping we’d have some nice IPA’s like neck oil.

In better news there’s a man with a machine selling Poretti midway down the longside. Pours pints six a go, has them all lined up, tap & go, queue moves like a dream. No bene on offer though so missed out on £2.75 from me.

Just begs the question why they can’t have one at every bar? Concourses also same old tired places so overall the missed opportunity to get beer pourers in every bar & give them a refurb is a bit underwhelming from levy. 👎🏻

Got to the ground 30 mins before kick off yesterday, in that situation we’d usually have a quick pint stood outside the Park View, especially considering the weather. However what with uncertainty about potential issues with new season tickets and the lure of the new catering operation in the ground we decided to check out the exciting new offering in the Jimmy Mac Upper. What a mistake…

Draft beer had been introduced, nice touch but at a premium price of £6 for a San Miguel. Queues were enormous due to a somehow slower service than before. Less kiosks open, same number of staff, no pre-poured pints. It took 20 minutes to get a drink. That will be the first and last time I bother this season. I didn’t even attempt to check out the situation at half time.

How have they managed to make the service worse and charge more for the privilege? Absolute joke.

Anyone who got a Gold Card when they sold their shares can no longer spend their credit at the food and drink outlets in the concourses.
You have to 'buy' vouchers from the ticket office beforehand.

As soon as the kiosks went cashless,i was pretty much done with buying stuff. I believe there were issues last season, whereby the terminals went down and you couldnt purchase anything, god knows what happened with the stock.

Unless I missed something, the setup looked no different to last season. And at £6 a pint, I won’t bother using it for the remainder of the season.

A minor annoyance not sure how it works but if a pie and a pint costs £9.40 and you have a voucher say for £10.00 how do you get change?. Anyone tried it ?

The JMU was a strange one with one bar kiosk closed but more staff behind the ones that were open last season yet it took an absolute age to get served. I was expecting a better choice of beers and a multi pouring system but as someone has posted above it was exactly the same as last season just more expensive!

Half time in CFS was worse than ever, they had no Benedictine left, sloths pouring pints and about 7 queues for each till. I thought they had made improvements and put extra stalls up? Don’t even get me started on the prices for the beers.

Pie - yes.

Peas and gravy - obviously not.
Get a plastic bag. Sorted!

We had 3 pints of "San Miguel" on the concourse last night £18 ... bloody hell £6 a pint that is nearly the price in the "Cut and Craft" restaurant in Leeds 😲.

Sorry BFC but don't think we will bother again

You really would take your own pie to a football match?
Yes, I've done that in the past. Bung a pie in the oven before setting off, wrap in foil and it's still warm. One pie costing nearly as much as a pack of four - no thanks.
