Team for Forest - EFL cup

Post by Spijed » Sun Aug 27, 2023 7:41 pm

A good time for VK to try and iron out any mistakes before the Spurs match.

Do we go full pelt and try and go far in the EFL cup or use this match to integrate more of our newer players?

He’ll play the reserves. We’ve got 3 games in 6 days.

considering we then play them again in the League we should play our oldest players, 4-4-2 and just hoof it

Play the lads who haven't featured in both games.

Muric
Vitinho
Ekdal
Taylor
Brownhill
Cork
Bruun Larsen
Odobert
Rodriguez
Gudmundsson
Redmond
Ramsey
Benson

Add a couple more from the current first XI and there's enough of a side to give it a real go.

Back to Basics (if all players still at the club and are all fit):

Muric
Roberts, Al Dakhil, Ekdal, Taylor
Cork, Brownhill, Cullen, Gudmundsson
Rodriguez, Foster

Plenty of young impact players on the bench

Strongest team possible

Hopefully something like:

Trafford
Roberts, O’Shea, Al Dakhil, Delcroix
Cullen, Berge, Ramsey
Benson, Amdouni, Foster

Try and get them some game time as a team

We missed a game remember so I reckon some players need minutes even when starting, especially when subbed fairly early.

I thus reckon (if Ekdal is fit):

Muric
Vitinho Ekdal Delcroix Roberts
Berge Brownhill
Benson Larsson. Redmond
Rodriguez

Frankly though, I ain’t the foggiest, and we have probably even signed players I have forgotten about :D

Normally you're trying to put out a team that has a chance of winning the game whilst not fatiguing the mainstay of the players of the likely line up for your next league game
I think here with the majority of our players being in the could play every day category we should pick the team and system that we’re intending to play against Spurs and see if it works or not

I’d like it to be:

Muric
Roberts Oshea Ekdal Taylor
Cullen.
Berge Brownhill
Redmond. Amdouni. Laursen

Build a few partnerships, minutes for others.

I'd like to see VK use the game more or less as a PL game. We need to get a team melded asap. I'd bring Muric in and rest Lyle Foster as the former has to be kept in the loop and the former has shown us what he can do.

Hi Claret86,

Unfortunately doesn't look that way. Here in France we just have Doncaster v Everton on BeIn Sport, the channel with the rights.

Main reason I asked is I'm staying in the North east this week and was wondering whether it was worth bringing my firestick up in case I can get it on. Not bothered in the end

A great chance to reassess Muric. And play to win because this new team need to bond.

A mixed team I’d say. We clearly need some cohesion and to try build some momentum.

We have played 2 games in 3 weeks at the start of a season so I wouldn’t say match load is a concern at this point.

After Sundays game I haven't a clue what team VK is going to pick.
I have a negative thought that VK is choosing players to give them maximum exposure to increase their resale value rather than pick the best available team.
That thought doesn't align with VK as a player or last years manager but it's there.
I would pick the best available 11 to win the game and then do the same again for the next game .
Saving players for certain games is not relevant at our stage of development.

Muric is the best goalie, I watched all the pre season matches and the two league matches, Trafford should be nowhere near first choice.

Had one in the old trip, currently at the hop merchant nearest the premier inn staying at tonight. Quick change when I check in at 3 before a bit of a pub crawl towards the ground. The canalhouse looks a good drop with guest ales.

JGB Ramsey Larsen
Amdouni

Taylor clearly unfancied but should start. Not the quickest, but only decent option at Left back & provides wealth of experience and is a really good defender. Can't understand why he's being marginalised.

Definitely put this on the wrong post! Meant for the Forest pub info!
