Not many replies to this message about Jordan. I admit to fishing as I had heard from a good source that he was not injured but 'too tired' to play yesterday...

IF we rested him (and therefore presumably Roberts) it was a terrible decision on Kompany’s behalf.

I love the guy but yesterday’s chopping and changing of a back line building some understanding and momentum was strange to say the least.

The conditioning coaches probably have a large say in who gets "rested" as you put it.

Maybe the resting of the tired players in a game that we were always likely to lose over a 100 minutes against a billion pound team will be the decision that sets us up to get a point or more against Brentford

He shouldn't be getting rested the game before a 2 week break!

I would suggest the impact of resting players for the Chelsea match has no impact whatsoever on the Brentford match , with it being two weeks away, it obviously would if the match was on Tuesday.

If he was rested it would be for a good reason and the sports science is more accurate than a supporters opinion.

Less impact agreed
But if you’ve tired and possibly strained muscles and as a result you end up with torn muscles, then 2 weeks isn’t enough time to recover
There will also be a physiological effect of being so dominant last year to being ripped to pieces this year that will add a mental tiredness to the overall feeling of a lack of self belief

This is particular relevant to Beyer considering his recent injury history

ties in with what Kompany said after the game yesterday, something along the lines of "he's injured and it's one we could do without"

He had loads of injury issues at his previous club I believe too

The season has been running for 10 weeks and he has played 6 matches, and was subbed in 3 of them. He isn't tired.

He seems to have a problem with knocks. Happened at his previous club as well and I think he got an injury just after he had broken into their first team and then couldn't get back in.

We will really struggle without him. Our centre back position is a real problem - I wanted us to sign an experienced backup in the summer (Evans was linked at one point, how I’d dearly love to see him alongside AAD during Beyer’s absence) as the lack of PL know how was always a concern.

Your source is not a good source. He was out injured and I don’t think we can expect him back for the game at Brentford.

oh dear, we really need him. Him and Ameen look good together, but we look VERY vulnerable without him.

Time for Jack Cork in that position, he wouldn’t let us down, as he wouldn’t if he was in midfield now for us.

I wouldn’t dream of playing cork at cb in the premier league but cork in front of an inexperienced premier league CB pairing wouldn’t be a bad idea

I think he'd do a good job for us in the midfield for certain. He once played in the centre of defence for Southampton on the Turf in Coyle's promotion season. We were 3-0 up after 11 minutes but ended the game hanging on at 3-2.

We are hugely missing the calmness of ekdal I feel. I hope he is back soon. Although as others have said on here he didn't play an awful lot last season despite me thinking he looked very classy and assured every time he played. I guess premier league level is hugely different but hopefully he will be an important asset to us when he returns.

Beyer does/did have a habit of overstretching when making tackles especially when he 'temporarily loses it'. This caused him his injury last season. Whatever has happened this time, I hope it isn't a similar story. I'm hoping he's a quick learner.
