Re: Describe this team
Disjointed, unbalanced, low confidence, trying to be too clever.
Tresor has been poor but spent last season left or central by all accounts. We play him on the right.
Our team is set up to play out from the back and dictate possession in our half, but we pick the shot stopper over the sweeper keeper.
Jay is utterly shot yet still second choice striker, we'd do better playing Larsen or Amdouni and just adapting the approach.
We can't win the midfield battle with only one sitting midfielder, and Cullen increasingly is showing why he didn't make the grade at West Ham.
Taylor is a decent PL left back but not for a hyper possession system. Brownhill is too jack of all trades for this system in the Prem. Cork is too slow for this system in the Prem. Delcroix is more two footed than Taylor so better tucking in, but isn't up to it defensively or offensively as a left back in this system. If we're to get the most out of any we need to change not just formation but playing philosophy, same if Trafford is #1.
We're a team of square pegs in round holes currently, part due to recruitment gaps and part due to playing the system rather than playing to players strengths.
We have to adapt and fast. Play Muric, our most dynamic midfield even if that means benching Cullen and Amdouni, and a wing selection of any two of Benson (when fit) and Koleosho or Brun Larsen, to maximize goal threat from Benson plus either directness from Koleosho or all-round versatility from Brun Larsen.
Or we play Trafford, a compact defence, and Cork with two physical hard tackling runners, Koleosho and Benson or Amdouni, and set up as a direct fast counter attacking side.
Currently we're crowbarring players into a system that doesn't do anyone any favours, whether it's due to injuries or due to the quick profit model
