Team for Brighton

Post by ClaretsPadiham » Tue Dec 05, 2023 10:00 pm

Muric
Roberts Ekdal Beyer Taylor
Cullen
Benson Brownhill Cullen Zaroury
Amdouni

That team looks strong to me, thoughts ?? Cullen sitting protecting the back 4.

Benson if fit enough and Zaroury has to be given a chance and Muric has to come in.

We all know it will look nothing like this though, VK is too stubborn and that’s why will be playing in the Championship next season.

Assuming you mean Berge for one of the Cullens?

The shape needs to remain. So if Koleosho is fit he needs to start. Beyer back in for O’Shea and odebert/zaroury in for JBL.

One of your Cullens needs culling from that team 😉

Let's go! If Koleosho is injured I'd go for that. Though Ekdal made a great impression on me.

————Don Muric
Vitinho-OShea-Ekdal--Taylor
———-Berge—Brownhill
—-JBG—————Trésor
———-—Jay—-Obafemi

Time for Trésor to show his worth, given the news about our star lad Luca.

Obafemi in to play off the last shoulder.
Don’t think Jay and Amdouni is a smart partnership as they both want ball to feet.

There will be space in behind against Brighton and hopefully we can exploit it.

-----------Trafford
Beyer O'Shea Ekdal Taylor
-------Berge Brownhill
JBG-------------------Redmond
--------Jay Obafemi

Two calls - firstly I liked the look of the Ekdal/O'Shea partnership and given Beyer has played a lot of football at right back I think that (whilst Vitinho hasn't done tonnes wrong) it'd be worth having a look at him in that role. It gives us more height and more defensive nous against a team with good attacking players.

I'd leave Amdouni out because his movement simply isn't good enough at present. He's too static too often, and he doesn't have the physicality to receive the ball with his back to goal or standing still, so as a result he's neither giving us a focal point nor moving defenders around. Obafemi might not be ready to start, and if that's the case I'd put Zaroury on the left wing and Redmond off Jay.

——————-—Trafford
Vitinho—Ekdal——Beyer——Delcroix
JBG—-—Berge——Brownhill—Odobert

Gone with Delcroix at lb to help with our build up play, forming a back 3 in possession with Vitinho pushing wide of JBG, Odobert providing width and direct wing play.

You’d rather have obafemi on the wing rather than odobert, jbl, zaroury, tresor, jbg, potentially benson, Redmond etc.. at a time when we only have one fit striker ?

Almost as odd as the call to move our best cb (Beyer) to rb, Delcroix ousting Taylor or O’Shea at rb.

I know but ;

A) O’Shea is probably due a spell on the bench on recent form (although has shown signs of improvement) particularly with Ekdal now fit and Beyer available again.
B) the uptick in our performances have stemmed from a far more settled side so I’d assume that any changes now would be minimal rather than radical. I’d expect odobert or zaroury to be a direct swap for Koleosho.

Depends what kept him out of wolves game squad, im guessing a slight niggle. If fit he’s almost guaranteed a bench slot by default as he’s our only other striker until foster returns.

Fair enough. But you implied it was a really odd thing to suggest. I also think the strongest case is to play Ekdal and our best centre half, Beyer, together. I'm not at all convinced Vitinho is the right option at right back at this level, so O'Shea is an option who has played there before, including in the PL, and should give us more strength and solidity. I andothers have suggested minimal rather than radical changes, although the time will come very soon when a more radical approach ought to be tried if results don't improve.

Vitinho has really grown into the role and Roberts is waiting his turn. 100% I’d pair Beyer and Ekdal and I don’t see much reason to experiment with O’Shea at rb who really hasn’t performed sufficiently to warrant the risk. The balance of the side is much improved as is.
