Chris McCann
Signed for 1874 Northwich last month. Played twice so far, inc last Saturday.
Re: Chris McCann
Good luck.
Re: Chris McCann
Always liked Chris. Was excellent in the promotion season and in the PL until that bad injury. Will be a big asset at that level if he stays fit.

Re: Chris McCann
That performance against Everton at the start of the Premier League season showed just how good he was going to be for us. Sadly, it never really worked for him when he came back from the dreadful injury.

He was a short lived revelation in the Prem. Seemed made for him. Then the injury.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2023 4:31 pmThat performance against Everton at the start of the Premier League season showed just how good he was going to be for us. Re: Chris McCann
I met Chris once after we beat Ipswich £-0 under Eddie Howe. He had a perfect build for a central midfielder. In his day could play centre half, as he did for Cotterill at times

Re: Chris McCann
Remember when him and Kyle Lafferty lived together up Piccadilly Road.
Somehow don’t think Zaroury and Benson are in the same house now

From my experiences of them at that time, they werent particularly pleasant people to say the least.ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 11:31 amRemember when him and Kyle Lafferty lived together up Piccadilly Road.

Re: Chris McCann
MT-yes you are spot on with your next post, it was indeed a 3-0 win. There was me thinking it was a sterling performance against Paul Jewell's men

Re: Chris McCann
Loved him in MF but he had one game at CB against Ipswich. Played Alan Lee out of the match and then popped up with a late winner. From then on I wanted him at CB.
I think it was Turner of Sunderland who ruined what could have been a fantastic career with crude thuggery.
Seen a lot of him over here with Shamrock Rovers, still looked useful but at a much lower level.

Re: Chris McCann
He didn't look to be a similar build to Scholes, Xavi, Modric or Strachanwarksclaret wrote: ↑Tue Dec 12, 2023 8:25 pmI met Chris once after we beat Ipswich £-0 under Eddie Howe. He had a perfect build for a central midfielder. In his day could play centre half, as he did for Cotterill at times

Re: Chris McCann
Lafferty was a gobby little ****, they frequented Burnleys nightclubs frequently and thought they could talk to anyone’s girlfriends because they they played for Burnley, Lafferty got put in his place one night off a lad I know, Chris McCann picked him up off the floor.

Re: Chris McCann
Sounds about right. Strange to think getting rid of Lafferty for a ridiculous fee is probably a big reason as to how weve ended up as a consistent Premier League club.ClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 6:46 pmLafferty was a gobby little ****, they frequented Burnleys nightclubs frequently and thought they could talk to anyone’s girlfriends because they they played for Burnley, Lafferty got put in his place one night off a lad I know, Chris McCann picked him up off the floor.
Lost an overrated player with a terrible attitude for about £4 mill, huge at the time, which combined with the Andy Gray money got us Eagles, Paterson and Thompson who ended up firing us to the Premier League.
We've lived off either the Premier league money or parachute payments ever since.
