It’s fair to say you think someone else is more deserving or some of these things are agenda driven but there’s a way to go about it. Unfortunately wealth doesn’t make you an authority on something and it can never buy class. This era of social media means that thickos think their comments are more relevant than ever.

Fair point boss… it may just be yet another case of a ‘gentleman’ of a certain age getting to that age where he’s now fed up of all the nonsense that surrounds us every day and speaks out. Older people are now more social media savvy and it’s easy to make your feelings known to everyone out there. Fair to say tho that some people shouldn’t use it because they aren’t as smart as they think they are.….

Lastly, I’m not for one minute suggesting Barton is right about anything he’s spouting off about, quite the opposite in some of the things he’s saying, but it’s easy to understand people’s frustrations when normality is no longer normal due to agenda and quotas. I’m generalising, but you get my point….

Spoty is way past its heyday and hardly relevant these days. The BBC should ditch this expensive junket and leave such extravagances to Sky or TNT.

This year the viewing figures peaked at 5.2m when the winner was announced, however the average TV audience throughout the show was only 2.9m.

I read some viewing figures myself somewhere and I thought they were less than that. I was hoping Stuart Broad would win. He with Anderson have been superb over the years.

If you're going off viewing figures as a benchmark for the success of a TV company or one of its programmes then the likes of Sky and so on are in the soft stuff.
They'd kill for a viewing figure between two and five million.

Agreed, It was only viewers switching channels at around 9pm to watch the final episode of Vigil that boosted the viewing figures to over 5 million for the final 10 minutes that the programme overran.
Viewing figures were higher for Emmerdale the same evening than they were for 90% of SPOTY. Plummeting viewing figures accounts for why the BBC transferred the programme from peak Sunday evening viewing to an early evening midweek slot on a Tuesday.

Hardly watched any of them this year. Probably a contributing factor of us being crap, but they are just a pale imitation of what they used to be in terms of entertainment. Satitised & dull

Even the football at the top level is becoming boring. Possession at all costs, red cards for nothing, goals ruled out for nothing.

Champions league group stages - Diluted and boring
FA Cup - No replays, helps the bigger teams, less chance of upsets.

Plus with VAR compounding the viewing experience for everybody, I'd never thought I'd say this, but I'm going off football as a product pretty rapidly.

Yes and this goal keeper esudes personality? Can you perhaps enlighten us on that? Ronnie O'Sullivan certainly has personality as does Joseph Barton. Perhaps not liked by everyone but personality in oodles.

Joey has probably realised he can get the same pay as he’s bringing in as an average league 1/2 manager by getting a slot on GB News, only with a lot less graft.

Throw out some controversial statements, declare a ‘war on woke’ and you’re like catnip to GB News and the like.

Sad to see, because when he’s got his head screwed on in a good environment he’s a completely different character, as we can attest to.
