He ran the game against Liverpool.Terry Cochrane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 9:46 amNo I wasn't I was replying to your comment that if he plays against decent midfielders he doesn't look as good. Have merely told you that there is no evidence that what you say is true. And yes Adros Townsend was poor last night.

Re: Ross Barkley
Yeah if he plays against a good midfield last night he would of lost the ball so much because I thought he was average, what he’s done against good midfield in other games doesn’t matter towards last nights performanceTerry Cochrane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 9:46 amNo I wasn't I was replying to your comment that if he plays against decent midfielders he doesn't look as good. Re: Ross Barkley
So motm performances against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle, who have world class midfielders, is by the by, but because he ran the show against us last night makes him merely "bang average" because we have awful midfielders. Righty-o.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 9:50 amYeah if he plays against a good midfield last night he would of lost the ball so much because I thought he was average, what he’s done against good midfield in other games doesn’t matter towards last nights performance

Re: Ross Barkley
I don’t understand why you are making it so difficult hahaha all I said was last night I thought he was average and proper premier league would of capitalised on him being average, not mentioning anything about the other games, being very good in games doesn’t mean you can’t be very average in other games.Terry Cochrane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 9:55 amSo motm performances against Chelsea, Liverpool, and Newcastle, who have world class midfielders, is by the by, but because he ran the show against us last night makes him merely "bang average" because we have awful midfielders. Re: Ross Barkley
I accept you thought he was "bang average" last night, most will disagree with you on that, but to assert that against better midfielders he wouldn't have been anywhere near as good is the comment I contest . Barkley can only play against the opposition he has against him. But when he has played against better midfielders he has this season consistently risen to the challenge. It is a simple point to make123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 10:01 amI don’t understand why you are making it so difficult hahaha all I said was last night I thought he was average and proper premier league would of capitalised on him being average, not mentioning anything about the other games, being very good in games doesn’t mean you can’t be very average in other games.

Re: Ross Barkley
Saying against better midfielders is saying a negative about our weak midfield. But again you are using previous games just because he has been good in previous games against better midfielders doesn’t mean that had he played against a better midfield last night he would have done the game. If Barkley plays like he did last night the next time they play likes of city, Newcastle, Arsenal, Liverpool and ill throw Villa in there then he will get caught in possession so many timesTerry Cochrane wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 10:09 amI accept you thought he was "bang average" last night, most will disagree with you on that, but to assert that against better midfielders he wouldn't have been anywhere near as good is the comment I contest . :Let's leave it there. I disagree with you. He is such a good player he will raise his game to the level that is needed depending on the opposition.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 10:12 amSaying against better midfielders is saying a negative about our weak midfield. Re: Ross Barkley
Thought Barkley was very good as was some of his passing.
Re: Ross Barkley
He was good in the first half, that raking pass he kept playing out to the wide man is somthing we could utilise if we had someone who could play it.

Re: Ross Barkley
Barkley was absolutely superb last night and Rob Edwards deserves huge credit for getting hold of him, rehabilitating him and then playing him as a 6. He was exceptional as a deep lying playmaker but he did the ugly stuff too, breaking up play. Interesting because in England we have a habit of pigeon holing players like him as 'number 10s' rather than using their qualities to help build play up in deeper positions.
More immediately, it was hard not to wish we hadn't had the humility and pragmatism to seek a player of his ilk last summer rather than chasing shinier and more exciting signings.

Re: Ross Barkley
How anyone could classify Barkley’s performance last night as average is beyond me. His quality shone through - I’d love to have him in our midfield.
