Muric back in, but I ask myself - what is the point at this stage of the season?

Good bench as well. As long as he doesn’t bring Brownhill on.

Utterly weird. Trafford makes numerous mistakes and keeps his place. Last week he does nothing wrong and gets dropped. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to see Muric play, but still, bloody odd!

Maybe he's decided the time for catching the teams above us is now or never, with just 10 games left?

I'm relieved for Trafford. A youngster thrown in the deep end with a less than confident and error strewn defensive line-up in front of him. He's had a torrid time.

Big ask for Muric. Barely played this season. At least Brentford won’t just be able to lump crosses in under the bar. Glad to see Foster back in the squad and Ekdal

Kompany has probably been under massive internal and external pressure to change it. Maybe he was going to get sacked if he didn’t , who knows.

Amazing that we've waited until the last ten games to try out one of the partnerships who dictated the play from last season in Music and Cullen.
A win today will spark even bigger question marks of the selections over the season.

I was fully expecting the stupidity to continue to the end of the season. At least we will know now how we play with a grown up keeper in the net. Way too late but better than nothing.

Not really

Mistakes are mistakes but last week both goals could be avoided with a great shot stopper - low percentage save chances. For example, the Ings one, Pope Season 1 lets that it, Pope Season 2 keeps it out. Traff got a hand on it but it lost us 2 points.

If his shot stoppig doesn't get us points, we may as well have Muric. So it is a message - sharpen up.

Eh? how would that work? He is too principled I imagine he would rather walk than change his team at the whim of someone who doesn’t know Football.

It’s about time 5-10 games too late, hopefully will be till the end of the season barring any major catastrophes, this should give Trafford the break to reflect and work on his weaknesses in prep for next season.

VK is deluded. They play 5 in cm and we play 2. Odobert is not a nr 10. Brownhill should be in for JBL or Vitineo, allowing Berge to get forward. I'm sorry but yet again nothing learnt.

I find the timing of bringing Muric in, baffling.

I’d accepted that Kompany had set his stall out and was sticking by his decision to keep faith with Trafford.

Unless there is another reason for Muric’s inclusion (Trafford suffering a knock or illness, which seems unlikely with him being on the bench) I can’t understand why Kompany didn’t make this change a few months ago.

I hope Trafford doesn’t sue us for breach of contract!

Whilst I'm all for the radical innovation of picking your strongest players and not fielding ones not up to the task, the timing of this is utterly baffling as others have said and if it comes off then it will be a doubly maddening kick in the balls to the fans by Kompany by making this change when it's far too late to change our ultimate destiny.

One wonders if Trafford took some kind of knock or the pressure is getting to him mentally that the decision was taken to field Muric.

D'ont feel for him. VK has been cruel by keeping him in the firing line too, too long. Any of the other 19 managers would have changed it as far back as October. Lets hope its not affected him

The pressure element could be cited - the last home game was the first that I’ve heard significant calls for Muric.

I've been team Muric all season but still always wanted Trafford to play well and come good.

Feels very weird to be now hoping to be proven right after having spent all season wanting Trafford to prove me wrong.

It's going to take more than one game to tell if it's the right call even if Muric has a blinder today, and i still struggle to be confident at that defensive lineup especially with Odobert providing no help, but here's hoping Muric has a good start back and we win.

Next stop, Benny gets a proper chance.

Admit that was something that quickly came to mind.
I've been feeling a bit sorry for the lad a while now though.
Personally think VK has managed this very poorly.

Did anyone ever use the term "baffling" before this season?
Is it a word that has become popular generally, or just on here?

Kompany pre match said we have 2 good keepers and we need to win today and that is the reason for changing the keeper ! Make of that what you will. I don’t think either of or cb’s have played with Muric before
