Is there a reason they just didn't give Madley or Robinson the Everton v Forest game?

Re: ARTICLE: Madley steps in to referee at Bramall Lane
Sums up our season. The one time we are set for a decent ref in a vital game they get switched to Everton and Forest, who of course are far more important than we are.
There is a lot riding on our game. It could get PGMOL 5 horrendous decisions in successive games against us. The kind of record that needs an award or some such (he writes sarcastically).

How have the pgmol allowed this happen? To replace Taylor with a ref from Huddersfield to ref another Yorkshire team seems very suspicious, hope I'm wrong but I smell corruption incoming..

I’ve no idea. I’d started writing the Taylor piece and then saw the changes.Paulclaret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 12:37 pmIs there a reason they just didn't give Madley or Robinson the Everton v Forest game?

Unusual to see the assistants remain, they are Taylor’s chums, they did the club world cup final with him and they normally work as a team. Expected they would have been off to Goodison too. Which of course begs the question, why not have a team with VAR too, so the ref and VAR get used to working together every few weeks?

So the PGMOL are saying that Madley isn't up to the standard required?
All the group one referees should be the elite.

Madley is refereeeing EVerton v Liverpool on Wednesday so they would not allocate him to Everton this weekend. Robinson is refereeing at Villa on Sunday and would not have two matches in two days.Paulclaret wrote: ↑Fri Apr 19, 2024 12:37 pmIs there a reason they just didn't give Madley or Robinson the Everton v Forest game?
