How will Pace react to his "beautiful girl" being whisked away by a wealthy suitor?

I hope he goes. We won't have to pay him off.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
If he does go we are going to need someone experienced getting rid of dross and working with a tight budget . Think Moyes would do a good job just won a European cup last season ,can’t be that bad can he?
Pace could really luck out with this after the contract extension mistake. Might turn out to be a master stroke for the compo. Yippee!

I’ve just put the VW on a long charge so I’m ready and waiting for when Bayern decide to swoop.
I can have him there before they look down to see their trousers around their ankles.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
I actually think this is a good time to leave before we get a load more random players in that are here to play for their next move and totally destroy the ethos that has had us punch above our weight for our entire history.

Love it how Bayern bosses see potential in him but Burnley fans can’t.

Spot on. This is why yo-yoing is never healthy in the long run. One poor window, one poor manager appointment, slow start to the season and suddenly you're stuck. The same happened to Norwich.

He hasn’t led Bayern to 2 home wins and a relegation yet.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
I find it difficult to believe that the top German club would want a Burnley failure, which is what he is in EPL terms.

His agent is either pedalling nonsense about or talking to every club who needs a manager.
Not exactly what we want for our club.

Amidst some serious straw-clutching from Bayern fans on X one did mention that Klopp was relegated with Mainz earlier in his career.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
I think most Burnley fans can see potential in Kompany, and I think the vast majority want him to stay. But equally, you must surely agree that this would be an extraordinary appointment? What would people think if Rob Edwards was on the shortlist for the Bayern job?

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
I would be absolutely amazed if he gets it. I think they are really struggling to find anyone that wants to do a job for them it seems.
If it means getting shut of all the players he has wasted money on this season i am well up for it. Fantastic get out of jail card for the club if so.
I fear this is all stupid agent talk though angling for either increased transfer funds or another contract extension.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Thing is he plays football 'the right way', and with a team of top talent such as Bayern it would probably be a success. Look how well we did last season when we were the biggest fish in the pond.
Hope he doesn't go, but if he does get an offer, then no one would turn down Bayern from Burnley.

If Kompany got the gig at Munich and Dyche walked out on Everton it wouldn't surprise me if Dyche went to work for Kompany as his defensive coach.

Daniel Farke plays the right way too and has a similar record to VK. There’s no doubt that it’s VK’s name that’s attractive.ClaretJimmy wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 11:03 pmThing is he plays football 'the right way', and with a team of top talent such as Bayern it would probably be a success. Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?

A promotion/relegation with a B team into the second tier of Spanish football is vastly different than the season that we've just had - and yes, last year was great, but this year was god-awful.
Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
He could go there and win the champions league next season and people on here would still slate him

I heard in a group chat that a couple of Bavarian teenagers have started a "free Vincent Kompany" movement

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
If he goes he goes, maybe it's time for both Burnley FC and indeed Kompany to have a re-boot. I so want him to stay and finish the job he started but there's no getting away from the fact that so, so many mistakes have been made this season and mainly by the man himself. Maybe I'm still in awe of his reputation, or maybe I'm concerned who would be next in line should he go!. As bad as this season has been I'll always have the season before in all its beautiful record breaking glory. What will be will be folks.
Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Didn't he do a big on pitch huddle yesterday saying how it will be us celebrating together on the pitch next season.
He really needs to learn when to say less.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Fully get your point but perhaps in fairness to Vinny, Bayern might have only come in yesterday/today. I reckon he would have stayed with us if this was Brighton or Brentford (perhaps I’m naive?) but it’s Bayern Munich. Whilst I’d be disappointed in him as I think it properly shafts us (moreso the many young players he’s brought in) it’s hard to not understand leaving Burnley for a club like this. It’s probably once in a lifetime and we were always intended to be a footnote on his C.V I imagine.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
It's a worrying situation - given that with the 'old guard' on their way out, this squad is almost entirely made up of players who were bought to play for Vincent Kompany.
But even more worrying is who we have making the decision over Kompany's eventual replacement.
The good news is that Jesse Marsch just took the Canada national team job.....

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
I can see the logic in this. Playing the Pep style with a Bayern budget is a very different proposition than being able to mould a team on the Burnley budget. Pep will be pushing his prodigy at boardroom levels at his former club, he needs Vinny ready to step up in the next three or four seasons and this is a chance to fast track his choice of successor.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Tbf to the board, they've only hired one manager so far and it was Kompany, so that's not a bad track record.
Big name + perceived fluid football = players want to come = more profit in the long term. The question is, who is out there that also fits that model?
If we went for Rooney for example, it would be a disaster.
Or they could go for someone like Robins or Carrick, which would be a safer option.
I'd quite like Moyes, but as others have said, he probably wouldn't want it, and the board wouldn't like his pragmatic style.

Very strange link. If he wasn’t going to stay for the long haul we shouldn’t have stuck with him when it was clearly not working very early on. I suppose the compo is Pace’s get out of jail card if he goes but does he have a plan b ? These players are very much VKs players too and I’m not sure how they’ll fit someone’s else’s style and system.

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Hard to believe he said these words yesterday:
Explaining what his message was, Kompany said: “It’s quite easy. You have a team that has every right to celebrate but they are celebrating with their fans on your pitch.
“Next year, we know the feeling of celebrating at Turf Moor. This is something for us next season and that was the main message.
“We know we can win a lot of games. To rebuild that energy towards it you have to set your target early.
“There are no guarantees, it’s such a tough league. It’s 46 games and every team is going to try, but if we have the right mentality, we have a good team and that’s something to look forward to.”
Wonder if it’s as simple as us getting a completely unexpected phone call today and then giving him permission to talk to them, which he did this afternoon?

Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
Much as I like VK trying to play the right way, he's not reinvented the wheel. Someone like Carrick or McKenna (just an example) would fit in seamlessly.Boss Hogg wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 11:46 pmVery strange link. Re: Kompany to Bayern Munich?
I agree but I doubt it's come from nowhere, Bayern have been looking for a manager for months, surely they'd at least contacted his agent.jedi_master wrote: ↑Mon May 20, 2024 11:33 pmFully get your point but perhaps in fairness to Vinny, Bayern might have only come in yesterday/today. Regardless of that, my point was VK seems to have a habit of making big statements and then looking a bit silly.
There's a reason most managers tend to just 'straight bat' everything as Dyche used to say.

Another pre-season learning a new system we’ll just have to hope works.
