Goin’ Down Th’Imp

Post by Guitargeorge » Wed May 22, 2024 6:45 am

The book is now back in stock. Detailing the heyday of the iconic Nelson Imperial Ballroom, with lists of all the acts who appeared there from 1956 to the time that it burned to the ground in 1976. Those who ordered through me originally will receive their copies shortly. If anyone else wants a copy, contact me georgedavidgrimshaw@gmail.com.

An old friend from Burnley is mailing out a copy for me, looking forward to reminiscing. He reminded me many big acts also did the Astoria in Rawntestall. He gave two standout examples: Long John Baldry backed by Rod Stewart and Elton John at Th'Imp, Yardbirds with Eric Clapton at Astoria. Who knew what the next few decades would bring,,,,,,brilliant :D

Thank you George, you've done a great job getting the book re-done. Nu-Age printers have done a cracking job of reprinting it. The additional bits from Bobby Elliot and Julie Birchalls colour photographs of the fire are a nice touch.
