Forgot about Cooper, he'd definitely be in the discussion and would be one of my first picks

Forest did no better with Nunez -they still finished 17th. I think what I can remember about Cooper was the respect he had from the players and the club staff, and he understands the Championship
Re: Next manager
Cooper is an upgrade for me, out of work and an absolute no brainer if VK leaves, there’s a few interesting candidates in the champ though.
Knutsen mentioned - my worry is why is he still at Bodo? Why has no one taken a punt yet given the years of success they have had.

Re: Next manager
Take Riemer from Anderlecht and everybody's happy.
Re: Next manager
Because he's a gamble that nobody's had the balls to take. I'd favour him as our next choice.JR1882 wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 1:33 pmCooper is an upgrade for me, out of work and an absolute no brainer if VK leaves, there’s a few interesting candidates in the champ though.

Re: Next manager
Knutsens name has been thrown into the ring practically every lower PL/Champ job that's become available. His agent is clearly doing some serious hawking.
Either all these clubs have had an interest and he's not impressed them or it's just paper talk and he would just be interested in literally anyone that will take him.
Neither of these scenarios make him a particularly enticing option for me.

Re: Next manager
yeah I'm a dick, I googled 'are WBA owners wealthy' and it threw out 'Lai was estimated to be worth £2.8 billion by the Birmingham Post Rich List in 2017. That puts Lai among the richest owners in the Championship and no doubt'RVclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 6:31 amWhere did you get that from?
All I can find in news articles at the time
‘Shilen Patel’s father, Kiran is estimated to be worth around $400 million (£318 million). It is believed that Shilen Patel himself has a net worth of around $100 million (£79.5 million).’
Quite a bit short of ‘billions’…
That was the last guy !!!

Moyes would add some bite and organisation. We wouldn't win the league by a mile. We would win the league and be better prepared for prem next time.

Re: Next manager
So many good managers out there and we are a seriously attractive proposition. Young, vibrant squad, largest budget in the league after some sales, allowing a new man to bring in a few they want. Great chance of the Prem within a year.burnley007 wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 3:42 pmIt does look like there is no obvious candidate.

Btw Kompany wasn’t even in the betting odds 2 years ago.

Re: Next manager
I reckon there are decent candidates to be honest - even just looking at the out of work crew, Moyes might be more of a punt but he’s a possible. Cooper got Forest up (just about) and he kept them up, has to be considered I’d have thought.
Plenty in jobs that would more than likely come also. I am more conservative than most (or risk averse) but I’d like to see a more ‘safe’ option come in this time. There’s a lot of work to do with that squad and it needs someone with a big broom.

David Moyes..... West Ham played decent football with the likes of Pacqetta, Bowen and Antonio, solid in midfield, and well organised and competititive.

Marcelo Gallardo.
Re: Next manager
Ask their fans if his football was ‘decent’. I think you’ll find that was the main reason they wanted him out. Complete opposite style to what’s been built here over the past few seasons.dandeclaret wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 3:54 pmDavid Moyes..... Re: Next manager
I don't have an opinion on Mark Robins really, but seems quite the break from a young, idealistic 'superstar' coach to a guy who is obviously competent but pretty much the quintessential football league journeyman boss.
Not saying it's a bad idea, just makes you wonder what the plan is, if there is one.

The advantage with Moyes is that he may feel like the prem/elite are moving away from him and that his best chance of a prem future is to get a team there and keep them there.
I think it’s unlikely Alan & co would consider him, not a fashionable enough name however given our increased necessity to go up this time around, the brief may be different this time.

Moyes back in the North West at a club that stick with their managers…it might appeal to him more than we think after winning a European trophy at West Ham and still not really being accepted by the fans.

Re: Next manager
If VK does leave it's going to take someone exciting to come in and keep this squad together. All signed under the impression they'll be playing for Kompany with very little ties to Burnley or England for that matter.
Robins has done a decent job. But would be a little underwhelming and represent a complete change in persona. Not a clue who to suggest that would fit the Kompany mould though.

I just viewed the betting odds for the last time we had a managerial change. Kompany was favourite followed by next in the betting Joey Barton and then Wayne Rooney. Quite frightening really.

I wouldn't ask a West Ham's fan view on anything to do with football style. They're idealists as well, rather than pragmatists.

Re: Next manager
Generally speaking I’d like us to appoint a manager who has us playing an attractive style, but there’s enough of a pragmatist in me to take Moyes if he could be persuaded.
We should be in a position to attract a decent calibre manager as things stand.
