How long has Pace known?
How long do you think Pace has been working on a replacement?
Has he spent this week trying to convince VK to stay?
Has he started to approach candidates?
I wonder when rumours of new manager options will start to appear...

No - he went to Alton Towers
Yes - at Alton Towers
Next Tuesday - when he’s back from Alton Towers
That’s all I know

Re: How long has Pace known?
I reckon he will have known, or had a good inkling that
something was brewing. With hindsight, the whole matchday
experience and interviews, attitudes, team selections, lack of real effort
by some players will have alerted him no doubt.
He's not daft, not by a long chalk.

Re: How long has Pace known?
He won't have known much about it. BM had other irons in the fire before they turned to Kompany, but they got turned down. That all there is to it.
Re: How long has Pace known?
I think the links with Robins last week are probably linked
Re: How long has Pace known?
Long enough to sound out Mark Robins
Re: How long has Pace known?
I don’t think he is daft. Just a bit naive.Funkydrummer wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 10:51 amI reckon he will have known, or had a good inkling that

At least it may have sorted out for him how he treats the two parties, as I reckon he had it the wrong way round.

I’d be amazed if mark robins left Coventry for us

I'd be amazed if he was offered it and said no.

Re: How long has Pace known?
I'm hoping for an exciting new, young manager.
Not a Moyes, Robins type.
Rohl, Fabregas, Muslic sound more fitting with the project...

Re: How long has Pace known?
I think he’s been very naive as to Kompany’s loyalty to Burnley. Nobody could ever plan for a club like Bayern emerging, but my gut is saying that he fully expected Kompany to manager of Burnley this coming season and I reckon this will have knocked him for six.
Re: How long has Pace known?
it would be a massive job offer for him over what he has at coventry, if he got offered it, he's taking it.

Re: How long has Pace known?
I agree. If someone said to me on the final day of the season that Bayern Munich would be coming in the Kompany I would have PMSL, and told them to get their head looked at.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 11:37 amNobody could ever plan for a club like Bayern emerging, but my gut is saying that he fully expected Kompany to manager of Burnley this coming season and I reckon this will have knocked him for six.

Re: How long has Pace known?
If you mean “I wonder whether Pace will learn anything from this experience about how he treats managers in future?” I think it’s an interesting question.dougcollins wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 11:12 amAt least it may have sorted out for him how he treats the two parties, as I reckon he had it the wrong way round.
Fans are loyal, managers aren't.
I personally have no issue at all with what Pace has said about Dyche (“we love Sean”) or Kompany (“it’s like dating the most beautiful girl in the village”). I think it’s right to back people publicly and it helps create the right feeling for managers being trusted and settled. I think we all operate best in a work setting where we feel valued and secure, which I assume is what he’s trying to do.
But maybe he’ll realise they will come & go and shaft you when something better comes along so change his approach somewhat - a DoF, direct more appreciation of the fans as you say, etc. Will be interesting to know what lessons he’s learned from it.

I still cannot believe he said this with a straight face after he reposted this on insta (not X/twitter)

though I note both the AP's insta and his daughters original tiktok post have been taken down

Re: How long has Pace known?
Kompany wasn't mentioned by any source until Tuesday was he?
Jack Cork spoke about Kompany trying to rally the players for next season in that post match huddle on Sunday so it's possible Kompany didn't know too much about it let alone Pace.

Re: How long has Pace known?
If this is true, which is what Fabrizio seems to be inferring (they first spoke to him on Monday and he said ‘yes’ immediately) then it’s an incredible turn of events and has all happened so fast.
Imagine waking up on Monday morning planning for the Championship and then joining Bayern by Thursday/Friday.
My big worry now is that if this came completely from left field and Pace had no hint it would happen they’re probably at the very early stages of a recruitment process that might take a long time and will probably destabilise our summer preparations.

Does Mr P know yet?
Re: How long has Pace known?
Whether Pace had any inkling or not, hold out for the 20 million, no compromises. Make them pay and Kompany sweat, ball is in our court.

Re: How long has Pace known?
VK has plenty, if he wants to go he can pay the part Bayern don't want to, the cost should be whatever is left on his contract not what Bayern think they want to pay.

Hardly naive when he put a whopping compo amount in his new contract.jedi_master wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 11:37 amI think he’s been very naive as to Kompany’s loyalty to Burnley. If there is no release clause make them pay.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 4:08 pmthe cost will be what Burnley are willing to accept. We all know it'll be 'undisclosed' anyway
I wonder why the other 8/9 high profile managers turned the gig down? Club supposedly run by a bunch of basket cases constantly at each other’s throats.
Re: How long has Pace known?
If it collapsed at this stage i think we'd be in a worse position than Bayern. I agree we should be trying to get as much compo as we can but we desperately need it to go through.
