Cricket World Cup

Post by Milltown1882 » Tue Jun 04, 2024 7:28 pm

England kicking off today, heavily rain delayed game so Scotland posted 90-0 in ten overs giving us a target of 109 to win.

Could be interesting if there is another rain delay.

I know there’s a calculation, but why is it needed in this instance. Both teams have 10 overs, so why do England not need 91 to win?

It’s because Scotland didn’t know they would only have 10 overs

Watching Ireland v India, which India should win at a canter after Ireland could only muster 97.
The commentary on Sky is absolutely dreadful. Not sure who they are, but they are just talking over the cricket rather than about it. Just put it on mute. Oh for the days of Lloyd, Gower, Botham, Garner et al. Insightful commentary with a bit of humour.

Holding, not Garner.

Yanks going well against Pakistan. 76-1 off 10 chasing 160.

Disappointingly, the big lad isn't keeping wicket for Pakistan.

Let's hope there is no funny betting patterns with Amir bowling the super over and managing 3 wides in 6 balls.

They've also had a bit of a rub, the Aussies.

I concur.

Even if the match was boring or interrupted with rain, the punditry was still entertaining.

Not as bad as it looked at one stage. We have some big hitters in our line up but Oz have a good set of bowlers. Depends quite a lot on our first 6 overs I guess but Oz must be favourites.
