Do Nelson charge to go on I heard it was free. Burnley could try free admittance it would make next to no difference on gate money :D

UTH
Free in. Lots of san Miguel was swigged though. Last time I went I had to pay.

Nelson were poor though. Scuderi was stood at the bar, a far cry from when I used to follow them with him, kegg, phelan etc dominating

Not true. It is a league rule to charge for First Eleven games.. (see page 32 and 34 here)
Well tbf Hopey, it would seem a good number of clubs are not following that ruling in my (pretty extensive) experience.

At Padiham we don't charge entrance fee, as most are members or spending in the bar.
Nobody brings their own cans on the ground so it works out really well.

Lowerhouse are in a very fortunate position to be able to charge and still attract large numbers.

Accrington don't charge and Enfield didn't last year though I haven't been this season.

It’s free for members, obviously.

It's not good fortune. The people who work behind the scenes create a product people are willing to pay for.

For a good few years the 20/20 has been pulling in good crowds on a Friday evening (weather permitting). Some of these people have been new to cricket and Lowerhouse are seeing a number of them attending at league games.

There are a large number of youngsters attending coaching and matches midweek. It is not unusual to see 60/70 adults there on these evenings using the bar and food facilities.

The clubhouse and general facilities have been improved over the last few years although there is still room for improvement.

The club is becoming very much a community asset for Lowerhouse and Rosegrove.

Fortunate no, just hard work and good management.

No charge (for league games at least) at Rawtenstall, Bacup, Great Harwood, Accrington or Church in my recent experience.

Tbh, I'm now sure I had a conversation with a committee guy from one of the clubs immediately post covid and he said that the league had relaxed the rules on charging at the gate and were leaving it up to clubs, but it's possible I've got that wrong.

Mostly division two. Sorry, hadn’t been to those grounds in a while.

No entry charge at Littleborough either. But, like Lowerhouse, we have a thriving membership and junior section which means plenty of income from bar sales and catering. Mind you, the way we've performed this season so far they should be paying me to watch!

I think you took the word fortune too literally.
Of course the Lowerhouse staff and volunteers work very hard like every cricket club do.

Some clubs put out excellent sides with excellent facilities but can't attract crowds no matter what.

Some clubs pay out over 30k for a pro and nobody watches, but they have thriving club houses 7 nights a week.

The 20/20 crowd Lowerhouse attracted to the Padiham fixture was great for club funds, but there wasn't many watching the actual game. No 6s or 4s were clapped or wickets.
Two people got hit with the ball as they had no interest in watching.
I hope your Sunday crowds are a bit more cricket focused to keep the balance right.

Bit of a strange one Littleborough this season. I thought they looked a really good side last season and deservedly won the Worsley Cup. I tipped them to be challenging the established title chasers this season, but it's just not firing somehow.

We have been badly let down by last years pro who gave backword at a very late stage and then his replacement did similar. Having deputy pros and Clinton Perren's retirement have impacted hugely on performances. Plus we have a very young side, who will come good, but in transition at the moment.

Leeds rd is a pub with a cricket field. The cricket is incidental and of a poor standard

I went to a couple of games at Padiham as far back as 2018 and was amazed they didn’t charge admission. It prompted us to get some food and drink while there which we might not otherwise have done.

Yeah, it works really well for the club.

I don't think the football club like charging the 6 quid they have to for league rules. They get a lot more on when they offer 3 quid entry for anyone with a ST elsewhere.

It was just a guess as Nelson is the only place around here where I have heard of a Leeds Rd.

What i find genuinely bizarre about CPCC is how they always seem to have more supporters at the game at Lowerhouse than turn up at the car park for the reverse game...and it's been like that for quite a few years. It's almost like they prefer watching down at the House than the car park :D
If all the posters that professed their love for CPCC on here turned up then we really would be able to afford yet another pro ;) :D
