Your best Blackburn moment

Post by AGENT_CLARET » Thu Jun 13, 2024 4:16 pm

Was it under Dyche beating them for the first time in over 30 year's

Or was it under Kompany winning the title on their own ground

Dyche first win.

The two hats made sure only 2000 could see us win the league there. I wasn’t one of the lucky ones.

The final whistle at Deadwood last season. I was one of the lucky 2k and that moment will never be beaten.

Appointing Steve Kean and letting Jerome Anderson control things.

15 years on and they are still f***ed and unlikely to recover

The 3-0 at home under Kompany, you'll not get a better day than that in league football.

I was at Ewood last year and as good as it was, that Danny Ings goal was more special for me. I’ve never felt relief like it and I’ve dodgy guts…

Terry Cochrane's 25 yard screamer at the Town End to beat Rovers 1-0 at Ewood at Easter 1978 ish?

Definitely winning the championship at their ground, I cannot believe anyone who says different, winning under dyche was great, at the time, but winning the league surpassed that a million times

Both games in the last promotion season.

We avenged the defeats we took early in the millennium when they were just miles better than us.

So many memories down the years, but New Years Day 1966 at Ewood was very special. A superb perfomance from us in a 2-0 win topped off by a classic Willie Irvine goal midway through the second half.....What a way to bring in the New Year.

If we're talking moments, Micha Hyde's equaliser is a moment worthy of mention. But my most replayed moment is probably Ings' winner in our first win over that lot in a generation. Barnes opener and shove on the keeper is also up there.

I cant imagine there is a better moment than that.

If I'd been one of the lucky 2,000 at Ewood, I probably would have gone for that to be fair. Watching on telly is never going to be the same unfortunately.

Plus, we absolutely demolished them in the home game, that 2nd half arguably Kompany's high point. The weather was perfect, the Turf was bouncing. And as said above, we'd just won the cricket. It was like a carnival afterwards all way up Tod Road.

Winning 3 nil at home. We destroyed them and the looks on their players faces as we serenaded them off the pitch was priceless.
The away fixture I was in an Irish pub in Bruges with my wife. I cheered that loud when Benson scored I scared someone in front of me to death. All the Irish barmen were winding me up during the game but afterwards congratulated me. Got absolutely hammered on pints of Bruges zot blond to celebrate.

Only a decade ago there mightn't have been any.

And now there are at least three that spring to mind:

Ings winner and beating them for the first time in a generation
WInning the title last season
The 3-0 thrashing that really was so much better than the scoreline suggests

Try as I might, I just can't separate the first two.

Hyde's goal was unbelievable. I'd only seen us play them three times before that and we hadn't laid a glove on them, so to see us pull a goal like that out of the bag, so unexpectedly - and right in front of us - was special.

But, it has to be the 3-0 which was a perfect performance.

It's now six derby wins on the spin, the last five with clean sheets. It's now over ten years since they even scored a goal against us which is just lovely!

With honourable mention for Kev Ball kicking fat Dunn up in the air.

Has to be watching Benson guide the ball into the Blackburn End net.....despite me not getting hold of a ticket to be there live. Any respect I had for them vanished following that.
The 3 nil win comes a close 2nd.

Since I wasn't at Ewood last season, I'll say Tella

Honorable mention to the 2-1 win in 2014. I was watching in the Falklands with a truly horrendous hangover, wrapped in a duvet on the sofa. Went back out on the ale in my Burnley shirt after that one

Good shout, we had played a second string and it was the first time I'd seen us stroll to victory against them.

What was it Mowbray said afterwards?

Last year's 3-0 win at the Turf with Barnes's superb performance both on and off the pitch. His goals, the shoving of their keeper into the back of the net and, the cherry on the cake, calling them "the basterds" in a live BBC interview.

We can have different opinions on the the games and which one are your favourites.

I wasn't at the league winning fixture but watching on sky it was a crap game with Vinny using too many squad players and the atmosphere sounded poor.
Expectations for us to win easy was high as well.

I'm sure you enjoyed the aftermatch celebrations though.

Watching the reaction on Bill Fox’s face when he asked me who my favourite player was in the 100 club at the old ground when they wanted my to sign as a youth… he did not see my answer coming at all… Billy Hamilton.

Beating them under SD to confirm we were now top dogs.
The championship game.
Every time we beat them.

Can't disagree with any of the posts so far. But, just as an alternative I'll go for that 0-2 win at Ewood Park on New Year's Day 1966. Arguably the best goalscorer in the country at the time, Willie Irvine, put us ahead ( I know Jimmy Greaves was around but bear with me) and a goal after half time from Bomber' Harris gave us the victory. However, a 19/20 year old Ralph Coates sitting on the ball in the 2nd half inviting the opposition to come and get it was something I will never forget. A truly magical moment.

I was there on the Riverside with my dad. Huge following of Clarets in the Blackburn End, then the away end. 30,000 crowd, I think.
