I’d posted on page 42 that he’d resigned as lazio manager, never thought they’d be linked…

Isn't that website a load of garbage? Can't see this one having much truth but who knows.
Tudor's record isn't all that either and he seems a bit disruptive from what I've read.

Re: Next manager
It can be seen as a fast track to the premier league if he can take us up. I think we would pay not far behind some of those clubs despite the fact they are giants.

Re: Next manager
FWIW, I was told there were two foreign managers in the five whose names hadn’t become public. Not sure if one was him or not.
Rosenior wasn’t part of the other three though and he looks to be part of the process so really not sure my info is in any way accurate.

Re: Next manager
It's not just any old championship job though is it?
A club expected to bounce straight back with lots of players far too good for the level.
12 months to get you settled in for the Premier league.
A club that pays managers quite well.

Scott Parker seems to have gone to odds on favourite ? Has he had an interview ? He comes across quite intelligent so who knows

5/6 with SkyBet. Funnily enough Lampard has gone into 1/3 at Sunderland. Not sure there’s anything to be read into them apart from they are on shortlists.Carlos the Great wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 1:20 pmScott Parker seems to have gone to odds on favourite ? Re: Next manager
From a financial point of view, I'd bet we'd pay our managers more, or at least as much as, his previous clubs. He'd also have the option to use us as a stepping stone to bigger clubs in England if things go well.
PS, I know nothing about him or whether he'd be good for us as a club. My point is his previous clubs, whilst prestigious, are in a not too dissimilar financial playing field.
Re: Next manager
What good is he to us then? We need a settled management system in place not somebody using us as a stepping stone.
Can't see us paying anywhere close to Marseille and Lazio in the championship, rumoured to be about €8 million 2 year deal at Marseille
Re: Next manager
I'd said we've paid two managers above average in our entire history.Quickenthetempo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 14, 2024 1:19 pmIt's not just any old championship job though is it?

We still don't know if we've players too good for that level.....it's a massive overhaul needed.....players all bought for a different style to the new managers......majority young and inexperienced in that league

Re: Next manager
We are always going to be a stepping stone, like it or not. If big clubs are after our manager, it usually means he's done something right (this is probably why a Director of Football or similar makes sense re continuity).
Lampard, Parker, Robins, and indeed any manager worth his salt, will all see us as that

10 managerial jobs in 11 years
His estate agent must be his best friend
Re: Next manager
I do tend to agree as such but for us to attract top managers/coaches and players, surely we have to market ourselves as a kind of stepping stone (within reason)
Unfortunately, as a club, we are not the final destination, we are just part of the journey?

I agree with that but he's 46 years old and managed some top teams, he's going to be wanted at other clubs a good 6 months with us and he could end up leaving in January

Not what we need, people outraged because Kompany dared to leave after 2 yrs, this guy wouldn't be here that long.
Re: Next manager
The selection of a new manager is getting as long winded and tedious as as a Vincent Kompany play out from the back tippy tappy and back to the keeper attack.

Re: Next manager
I just hope we don’t pay an enormous salary and a long contract just because someone is a name. We were lucky getting compo for VK but most managers don’t last the length of their contract. Parker would be alright for the Championship but is a huge risk for the PL if we get there, as was VK.

Re: Next manager
Every time I watched Leeds or Leicester last season their pace was just too much for the opposition.
If pace didn't matter Robbie Blake would have played for top clubs all his life.

Tbf I'd sooner we took a while and gave ourselves more chance of getting it right, but having said that I wouldn't want it to drag on too long into the transfer window.

Re: Next manager
An unsettled squad is something no club wants; can't say the same for pace. Getting from one end of the pitch to the other speedily or just gaining an advantage through it over a few yards is a potent weapon in a teams armoury.
