Yeah, cricket has changed quite a lot in recent years but the Liverpool comp and Northern league used to be open leagues, as did the Palace shield.
Plenty of cash on offer in the Lancs league and the Bolton clubs.
They’d pay in the lancs league but you dont get the same funding if you do from the ecb.
Although a lot do pay amateurs (we won’t go into that though)

Ormskirk skipper is the son of a mate of mine who is a massive Clarets fan. Decent outfit. After toppling the league leaders yesterday Littleborough came crashing back to earth with a 9 wicket defeat to Little Lever.
Little Lever are a decent side.
They won the NWCL last year with Jake Lehman as pro who didn't bowl.
They have have 2 amateur bowlers who have 100 league wickets from last year and 7 games this term.
Plus an Amateur who needed 8 runs yesterday to get 1000 league runs in the same time frame.

Doesn't help when you cannot play a deputy Pro in the competition. We fielded a very young inexperienced side today. But I suppose it's character building!

Padiham had the same problem.

That will be tough for the Car Park Cricket Club. Perhaps they could borrow some of the million that Power House take to away games as they are not in this competition.

There were. I haven't checked the results yet, but I was at Darwen to see Great Harwood triumph relatively comfortably. Decent evening weather wise and a beer festival on too, so win, win.

Rishton v Church was a 10 over per side game Rishton scored 103 for 2 and Church knocked them off with a couple of overs to spare. Church's pro scored 50 in about 15 balls.

Remarkable bowling figures from Baz Tripathi 5 overs 1 maiden 4 runs 5 wickets! Littleborough beat Bacup largely due to 99 from 55 balls by sub pro Akermann.

Correction, it was 20 balls, with 2 x 4's and 6 x 6's.

Lowerhouse scraped a 1 run win over Ramsbottom in the Worsley Cup 1/4s. The match was reduced to 26 overs, House batted 1st and made 146/6 and restricted Rammy to 145/6 off their 26 overs. A run out off the last ball prevented the tie or defeat.
There were also wins for Haslingden (7 wkts) over Darwen and Greenmount (20 runs) over Rishton, both in restricted overs contests.
Burnley face Tod in the other 1/4

I’m just glad they changed the rules in the cup to league rules, or today would have been called off.
They’ve said they won’t have D/L in a final but we were discussing it today and that’s arguably the date all clubs want it when they’ve invested thousands in tents and beer

Where’s this? Can only see a post on their FB saying the game was abandoned. Replay date next Saturday I believe.

On the play cricket site - no mention on their twitter account that the game was off.

Yes must be frustrating when clubs invest in tents, food vans etc and then the weather ruins it. Sure a few clubs had invested money in the T20 games Friday that were called off. Fingers crossed summer arrives soon.

That last sentence about summer arriving. It’s unbelievably miserable and cold for mid June.

It's by far the wettest start to a cricket season I can remember.
Luckily it wasn't raining over Bolton way today, so Padiham got a 37 over a side game in.
There would have been no chance at Padiham with the afternoon downpours.

It’s grim. Not just all the rain but the temperature too. I was close to putting the heating on a couple of days ago. Forecast suggesting it is going to start getting a bit warmer this week.

I get my info from
https://lancashireleague.play-cricket.com/home.
Tod are said to have scored 36/0 in 1.0 overs but all details have been removed. Can't see it being correct though. Game now scheduled for 22/6/24
