He’s not that daft, he’s left him at Burnley.

Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
I think Jensen will prove to be a very good appointment.
Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
Some more comments from Jensen to Danish press. Reads like he will be assistant head coach and we wanted him even knowing we were without a head coach yet?
“I got was contacted by Burnley and from there we talked.
Of course there were some interviews and they had a good process. They took references and scouted what I am like as a coach.
They have been very thorough and have done good preparatory work.
They really wanted me in for the role of assistant, so it has also been stimulating to feel their energy, even though they don’t have a head coach in place.”

Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
There is a reason we never hear of this happening at other clubs - because it makes absolutely no sense and would (understandably) put off a plethora of would be managers from wanting to come to a club as they couldn’t bring their ‘team’ with them. On the face of it this is a truly confusing decision.
The argument of it giving us ‘continuity’ if a manager leaves holds no water. A manager leaves and everyone goes with him - that is just what happens and always has done. Why is that a problem? You want a new guy to come with a new strategy and ideas and to feel comfortable with his team around him.

I expect our interception stats be the best in the division next season after this appointment.
Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
So he wasn't wanted as an assistant by Vincent Kompany?RVclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 10:22 amSome more comments from Jensen to Danish press. Reads like he will be assistant head coach and we wanted him even knowing we were without a head coach yet?

Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
To be fair, tin that quote he is talking about the present as opposed to when the process started.
I've still nothing other than rumour, supposition and guesswork that he was VK's choice, but this quote doesn't disprove it.
Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
It happens all the time. Loads of clubs have coaching staff that are not related to the Head coach. They can still bring some of their own men in, they just also have to work with some of the clubs own staff.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 10:28 amThere is a reason we never hear of this happening at other clubs - because it makes absolutely no sense and would (understandably) put off a plethora of would be managers from wanting to come to a club as they couldn’t bring their ‘team’ with them. In fact, it has even happened to Kompany at Beyern Munich. He has had to keep an assistant coach who was already at Munich - Rene Maric.
Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
It's just that clubs already have the coaches in there set up, so no new coaches are announced to the press.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 10:28 amThere is a reason we never hear of this happening at other clubs - because it makes absolutely no sense and would (understandably) put off a plethora of would be managers from wanting to come to a club as they couldn’t bring their ‘team’ with them. We are starting from scratch.

Has the club announced that the new man cannot bring "their team" or is it just another "UTC Assumption"jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 10:28 ambecause it makes absolutely no sense and would (understandably) put off a plethora of would be managers from wanting to come to a club as they couldn’t bring their ‘team’ with them.

Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
I can’t see it putting many off really. If we’re determined we’ve got our manager/head coach, they’ll bring who they want with them. If need be, Jensen could be sidelined and stick out the cones.jedi_master wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2024 10:28 amThere is a reason we never hear of this happening at other clubs - because it makes absolutely no sense and would (understandably) put off a plethora of would be managers from wanting to come to a club as they couldn’t bring their ‘team’ with them. The whole situation is far from ideal but if we’ve already signed him up before Kompany has left that kind of explains where we’re at.

Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
Is it possible, that the new man we bring in can ask for this guy to be paid out? It seems bizarre, unprofessional and very American that we offer an assistant a job before we hire a new manager.
Be very interesting the next few weeks

Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
I don’t think we have offered an assistant a job before a new manager, I think we offered him the job when we had a manager. As has been said on the thread, potentially to replace Bellamy who would not have been here if Kompany hadn’t left.blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 12:03 amIs it possible, that the new man we bring in can ask for this guy to be paid out? And yes, the new manager might want his own team and that could lead to some of the current staff leaving.

It really is unfathomable. Is a job offer for head coach now going to be conditional on the basis they accept Jensen as their assistant? Bizarre situation.

Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
I take it VK employed this guy just before he got the offer from Munich?
Wouldnt it be better if the club pulled out before employing him now we dont have the guy that wanted him working at the club?
I cant think of any other club where this has heppened before. Really looks like amateur hour at the moment.

Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
Or maybe the deal with Jensen and his club had already been done so we couldn’t really pull out.Superjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 6:10 pmI take it VK employed this guy just before he got the offer from Munich?

Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
Thats fair enough I would imagine lawyers and agents were involved. I would also imagine if the new manager doesnt want him we will just have to pay out the contract he has just signed.
Could potentially cost £1m+ who knows. Another lesson for Alan to learn this one.

Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
Maybe Henrik Jensen has been identified as someone worth having at the Club?

Out of interest, how do you know that?TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Mon Jun 24, 2024 7:09 pmPace doesn't want him at the club. VK has tried to take him to Bayern but Pace won't allow it out of spite.
Re: ARTICLE: Henrik Jensen joins coaching staff
It's a mess but it might be the case that Jensen is a really talented coach that VK has landed us. In which case it makes sense to keep hold of him for now until a new manager comes in and sees if he he has a role for him
I actually like that he wasn't just sticking with what he knew from a coaching sense. Quite unusual, managers don't tend to do it like that.
