Re: Mission to Burnley
Does that mean no MtB2???
I was hoping we’d get one. Not a great watch for us fans to repeat that season but also I’d have loved to see the behind the scenes footage of this last season and the board room conversations.
CP will be livid he can’t have a nosey at the board meeting attendees

Re: Mission to Burnley
Tbh knowing the mindset some supporters have been in since VK left, I’m surprised it hadn’t been defaced over the last few weeks

Re: Mission to Burnley
The fantastic season VK gave us in the Championship is now a distant memory I wonder if the new bloke whoever it is can replicate that season.
I doubt it very much thanks for your efforts Vincent I haven't got a short memory like lots on here that season will be forever ingrained in my memory as one of the best ever being a Claret.

What is more important is that the new bloke doesn't replicate last season should we go back up.Vincent'sCap wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:27 amThe fantastic season VK gave us in the Championship is now a distant memory I wonder if the new bloke whoever it is can replicate that season.

Re: Mission to Burnley
Season 2 is in the edit suite and will be out around Sept/Oct time. I've been doing to some soundbites for the producer this week for it. They've managed to capture the fall-out/final days of the Kompany saga too. So, think I will make a great watch.

Re: Mission to Burnley
That was my thoughts.
There’s probably more interest in the end of season drama than the actual season.
You could make at least an episode on the whole process of losing Kompany, identifying and appointing another manager… how it works, what you do, etc, which would probably attract some German interest and if we went for another big name like RVN (still can’t see it with these Jensen links) then possibly a lot of United fans too.
I really hope we air it warts and all. Giving fans proper insight in to how a football club is run through good and bad times is interesting I think.

To be honest I don't think a new bloke will replicate Kompany's Championship season so the new bloke won't have the Premier league problemClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:35 amWhat is more important is that the new bloke doesn't replicate last season should we go back up.

Depends who we keep together, I think.Vincent'sCap wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:49 amTo be honest I don't think a new bloke will replicate Kompany's Championship season so the new bloke won't have the Premier league problem
If we keep our best/most promising players from last season - Muric, Esteve, O’Shea, Cullen, Berge, Koleosho, Odobert, Foster - I think we’ll take some beating.
I’m hoping that the loss of Kompany (and presumably the unexpected income it generated) has meant ALK will be more cautious of who we hold on to because there’s a big risk on manager whoever we choose. We need to give them the best team to mitigate that risk.

It's not been whitewashed, it's been put in the same safe storage place as the Clarets Legends player boards..... no whitewashes here at all.

And that Real Madrid aren't looking for a new manager.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:35 amWhat is more important is that the new bloke doesn't replicate last season should we go back up.

Re: Mission to Burnley
Only disagreement on this I have is I'd try to sell Foster.NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:58 amDepends who we keep together, I think.

I understand that and it's my only reason for wanting to sell him.warksclaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 11:38 amWith his well documented mental health issues, that would be a big challenge to sell him
Seems harsh and I'm empathetic having experienced some issues myself but he's too much of a high risk now to be our main striker.

Re: Mission to Burnley
The answer there, in my opinion, is to sign another striker although I do think Jay is as good as anything else in the Championship and also Obafemi is well overlooked.
He looked excellent in some games for a poor Millwall side when on loan. I think he’d be fine in a more competitive side.
On Foster, I think he’s vital for us next year. We all saw his potential vs Villa. Being shoved out wide wouldn’t have helped. We need to get him playing to that level more consistently. A signing like RVN would really help that, I feel.

Anyway we've gone off topic so I'll make it my last one on this.
Absolutely agree about Foster being a key player and I sincerely hope the worst of his illness is behind him. If not, then we're better off cutting our losses in my opinion.
I was hoping we'd sign another striker even if he stays. I dont rate Obafemi and as much as I like Jay and glad he stayed, I wouldn't want to be overly reliant on him either given his age.

Re: Mission to Burnley
That performance at Villa was something else but we got virtually nothing from him after that although he did have that hernia surgery and we did see him pushed out wide in games which for me was a nonsense.NewClaret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 12:06 pmThe answer there, in my opinion, is to sign another striker although I do think Jay is as good as anything else in the Championship and also Obafemi is well overlooked.

Re: Mission to Burnley
Yes, it’s hardly surprising that Villa are one of the clubs interested in him after that. When I was walking out of Villa park I heard about 10 separate conversations from Villa fans raving about his performance and saying they should buy him.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 1:17 pmThat performance at Villa was something else but we got virtually nothing from him after that although he did have that hernia surgery and we did see him pushed out wide in games which for me was a nonsense.
If I were a new manager I’d just make him watch that performance every day in training all pre-season. That has to be the standard.
The various challenges of the season can’t have helped him but if played consistently in the right position and if he can hit those levels regularly I think he can be a top, top player, so I don’t want to sell him too early.
Or too cheap. If he goes to Villa or similar they turn him in to a £30-£50m striker in two seasons. I actually think a Championship season would help him.
But I digress and am moving the third off topic so will finish by saying I am in some ways looking forward to MTB2 than 1. I think how people act and behave in difficult times is more important and telling than good, so I’m really interested to see things from the inside last year.

Im not sure how you can say this without knowledge of the new manager etc. 2 years ago we didnt think we was going to get a season like we did. Its all an unknown and nothing can be dismissed at the momentVincent'sCap wrote: ↑Wed Jun 19, 2024 10:49 amTo be honest I don't think a new bloke will replicate Kompany's Championship season so the new bloke won't have the Premier league problem

My only hope for Season 2 is that the arse licker in the Jimmy Mac hospitality doesn't make an appearance despite him buy Alan Pace gifts and constantly following around like the chubby little lap dog that he is.

It is, not sure who he is though. But honestly, it's cringeworthy.

I think everybody new it was nonsense to play Foster out wide except the main man CT .
