Is football in the uk under threat for future generations ?

Mainly talking for the loyal club fans with Qatar trillions and the growing number of clubs having American ownership/part ownerships club chairman's must be looking at big money being thrown about in Qatar for the golf, boxing, UFC, darts, snooker and surely in years to come would love to get a slice of the pie.
Matches played in america the drums seemed to be getting louder and louder and also the way sky are showing more "live" matches outside the premiership next season leads you to think the day of where you can watch any game via your remote might not be light years away ?
Or alternatively to that certainly the big clubs would love to stream live their own matches on their own tv channel exclusively on a subscription service worldwide, no doubt.

Where would that leave uk core loyal fan bases in years to come ? not sure ?

It already looks different in 2024 to how it did in 1994, and in 1994 it looked pretty damn different to how I imagine it looked in 1964.

The game is in my humble opinion wrecked (at elite level), the money that is swilling about has taken it to another level of cheating etc. It was inevitable that this would happen with the huge influx of money; for me it's not the game I loved as a kid.

Do I really want to pay to go and watch players faking injury and cheating to gain an advantage? No, I lost interest in football a long time ago except for Burnley and England (although a visit to the dentist is less painful than watching England at the moment).

However, I think there is so much (too much) football at junior level now and so many children thinking they are going to be the next big thing that it will sustain it in the future.

The games gone anyway,clubs like us seem irrelevant,although i have had a season ticket since the Orient game,its got to the stage of whats the point anymore. In time,i reckon you will be able to buy a season ticket for any league club and watch the whole season from the comfort of your armchair

Number of people watching the game? This figure seems to be going up. E.g.:

You can already watch any game you want to on tv.

The Premier League will fall out of fashion at some point, that’s how fashions work.

I’m absolutely fine with the elite level clubs disappearing off to form a super league, which seems a matter of when rather than if.

It would be relatively simple to stop it - it just means millions abstaining from their habit until it changes - that is the difficult part

masses of empty seats will drive down ticket prices, not taking up the TV subscriptions will do the same to TV revenues. Boycotting products from sponsors and hospitality customers will also affect revenues. It is not difficult to identify where clubs and authorities will feel the pain, it just requires mass commitment and discipline. Unfortunately not everyone has a problem with modern football.

for the record I gave up putting money into football around 24 years ago because I didn't like where it was heading, it would seem many thousands more have a different view.

The games no better or worse than it was when the FA sold its soul and Premier League started with help from BSkyB.

Only difference now is it has modernised and the same sort of charlatans and chancers owners still exist but with bigger bank balances or state backing.
