The Turfcast Podcast also fell for it. After explaining for 5 minutes that he only repeats well sourced nonsense he then repeats not well sourced nonsense.

Sorry Turfcast Podcast Chaps - Good Podcast but you have to laugh....!

My reaction to his departure is the same as when I saw him on the team sheet most weeks - non-plussed.

I’ve no issue with him going. The key is replacing him.

Seemed like a good pro and always gave his best. Bit limited at the highest level but never let us down.

Good luck to him. Hopefully we can get a permanent replacement in who can grow with the club.

Good move for Charlie, he's the last of the journeymen type player to move on from the Dyche era. Looking back, thanks to Dyche a number of players were able to compete at the highest level for an extended period of time and become wealthy young men in the process. Lowton, Mee, Westwood, Barnes, JBG et al immediately come to mind.

Been fantastic for us over the years , a very good left back indeed who was rarely given the runaround against the Prems finest . Excellent at putting late tackle in and taking a man to the byline . Shame vinny rarely allowed him to play his natural game of bombing down the wing and supplying crosses . Good move for him and looks like he’s got a nice new head of hair for his new gig too !

Sorry but can't let this pass: Journeyman is disrespectful and wrong. Charlie (and all the others referenced) was a great player for us. Sad to see him go.

Mind boggling how you can post something like this tbh. Players that played their part in quite literally transforming the football club (along with Dyche).

Charlie Taylor is also quite literally the opposite of a 'journeyman'.

Circa 300 apps for the two clubs he played for (two historic clubs as well) and now set for just his third club 10 years + into his senior career.

Journeymen? I thought Taylor played for Leeds, then us?

Edit… just seen the above.

OMG, I have ruffled a few feathers  What I'm saying is Dyche played a massive part in turning Charlie (and the others I mentioned) into bona fide PL players. How many times has it been mentioned on here Charlie (and the others I mentioned) wouldn't get near another PL club?

For clarification: According to Merriam-Webster dictionary a journeyman is defined as ; an experienced or reliable worker, athlete, or performer especially as distinguished from one who is brilliant or colourful.

That sums up Charlie.

It's almost like good managers get more from a TEAM than the sum of the JOURNEYMEN.

Whilst others don't.....

These players were anything but journeymen. They were all damn good Premier League footballers.

220 apps across all competitions. One of the special group who achieved qualification to the Europa League. He was a brilliant addition and a great replacement for Stephen Ward. I hope he does well on the South Coast and adds to his Premier League appearances. I still remember Leeds fans having a real moan about him joining us, as we were clearly a huge step down from the mighty Leeds!! He's proved the move was a good one.

The only people who've said Taylor wouldn't make another PL club genuinely don't understand football, and were of the ilk to do down our massive success because we weren't trendy enough.
Taylor is a very underrated fullback and at one point I genuinely think, while short lived and not sustained, his peak had him on the cusp of an England cap. Not a 20 cap man, not a mainstay, but on the fringe as 2-3rd choice for a couple games, yes.
I'm not at all surprised he's found a PL offer. My only surprise will be if Gudmundsson doesn't as well.

Also linked with celtic at some point last season. Might be an easy win for a new manager wanting to get the fans on side.
Kompany tried it with Costello but he was miles off it unfortunately.
