Solid signing. I assume he’ll be a back up but he’s got plenty of experience.

First choice given that record last season?

Had his first season as first choice at Ipswich last season so why he didn't sign a new deal I don't know, but experienced which is what I think we needed.

Could the signing of Muric and thoughts of being on bench made up his mind to leave

I think he had already rejected a deal before they signed Muric. Maybe the deal was made clear he'd be back up to a new signing and he didn't want that.

Ever-present in an Ipswich team which won promotion last season - only came in because Walton was injured but kept his place when he (Walton) returned to fitness

Once Ipswich started looking for a new first choice keeper this season he rejected an improved offer from them - doubt he has come here with the intention of sitting on the bench

Since he played every match for the team that finished second in the championship last season I’m pretty sure he will see himself coming here as no.1 next season.I can’t see Trafford staying here if someone is mad enough to pay £20m for him.

Reads like he had a superb 2023-24 season. Unless his 16 clean sheets were due to his defence rather than his ability as a shot stopper and of course you need a good defence to keep the goals down no matter how good a keep as Heaton demonstrated when we signed him in 2013.
Most links of us with him had it that he didnt want to sign for us and was likely going back home. Maybe ££££ again.

Really poor of Ipswich to not stand by the keeper who got them promoted and looked to replace him straight away

Happy with this signing. Back to Back promotions, means he brings a winning mentality.

Welcome on board Hladky 😀.

Really pleased with this signing. Whether he’s 1st or 2nd choice we’ll see but he’s good enough to be 1st choice. Very good with his feet.

Nice signing. I’ve been hoping we’d bring in a few experienced players who’ve played in England so I’m pleased. Another couple like this would be great once we’ve moved a few on.

Bit of a turn up in view of the noises supposedly coming from elsewhere. He was off home at one point if you believe that. A pleasant surprise I'd say. Hope he lives up to his reputation.

I watched a good few Ipswich games last season and he's decent enough keeper but like all of them he does have the odd bit of brain fade.

I'm not sure either he or Trafford will be a clear number 1. It will be interesting to see who "yes melady" picks first game out.

Maybe. If you are right, it’d be safe to assume he’s our new number 1. If he’s not happy being a PL number 2, he’s not going to be happy being a Champ number 2.

Impressed on how we have secured some key players in positions where we were weak. For me this clearly demonstrates that the aim is to sell Trafford and our new GK has probably been told he will start as the No 1. He has not joined us to be our No 2 in the Championship when he could have been No 2 in the PL, and maybe even, subject to Muric's form, No 1 in the Ipswich team.

Interesting swap. Decent signing.

Maybe if us and Ipswich swap places in a year we could swap keepers again then too?

I think the board will be hoping to move Trafford on now. We need the money to balance the books.

Very happy with this. I wanted to see an experienced number one come in and I reckon that is what he is going to be. We cannot know for sure how the squad will look in a few weeks, but if we sell only Odobert and Trafford from our 'main players' and some/all of the out of the picture players (Weghorst, Roberts, Bastien etc), we are looking pretty strong as is now IMO....

I would struggle to pick a position we're weak in - perhaps another left back?

We do - don’t know his name though but I believe he’s not European but not British. Connor King has stepped up too from the academy, not sure whether that’s permanent or not.

So, essentially Ipswich get Muric and we get £10m-15m (less City's chunk) plus their first choice goalkeeper from the Championship winning team last season.

Very good business IMO, especially as Muric was seemingly pushing to leave.

Shrewd business this. Experienced head which is vital especially in the championship and a winner in his last 2 seasons to boot, a few more of this type mixed in with the exciting younger players we have and we’re on to a winner.

Looked at the customary YouTube video, very much a Schmeichel type keeper ,but didn’t see if he played out from the back or if he could catch the ball.

This appears a steady signing. I think an experienced keeper capable of being number 1 was a key requirement this summer because a likely relatively inexperienced back four needs a steady (and hopefully vocal) presence behind it. I suspect we'll need a second keeper and that might be someone who offers more potential, which is the right balance. For now Hladky offers good competition for Trafford.

Very smart move. I liked Muric but he wasn’t mission critical to us. All we need for this season is a reliable keeper not one who is brilliant with his feet. Get a good deal on Trafford and we really have done excellent business.

On the basis goalkeepers play in goal then it does refer to any keeper.

It's clear to me he's going to be number 1. Trafford wants to leave and to be honest, I'm glad. I haven't seen anything in Trafford that makes me think he's going to develop in to a top keeper one day. Everyone keeps saying he will but I just can't see it.

He can learn his trade somewhere else while we can profit from having some experience where it really matters again.

Time will tell with Trafford but he wasn’t helped last season with the ridiculous decision to leave him in as long as we did. He should, at the very least, have been given a break after a few games.

He conceded a lot of goals in the early games and then he seemed to suffer for that.

Having said that, he never managed to do what Muric did against Everton & Brighton.
