Arrogance beyond belief.Wile E Coyote wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 5:30 pmProbably one of those seasons when we will be able to enjoy the matches knowing promotion is guaranteed.
Scot Parker appears to be very relaxed, I just get that impression this will be a strong season for the club.
Preferable to the dark days last season in the Premier league.
Might even set a record for points this time .
No doubts about it in my mind.
Straight back up for Burnley, without any doubts.

Always start a season as a Burnley fan with pessimism (but don't shove it onto others).
The only way is up.

There are courses you can attend to prove this.

Stating that promotion is guaranteed is basically the definition of arrogant.

I rarely post thesedays, I did tonight, and find there is a problem with a few on here that just seek confrontation and seem drawn to rudeness. Everyone else took it for a lighthearted , optimistic post, but you and a few others are unable to take things in that manner, and have to include your mundane criticisms, I genuinely pity you and your frosty outlook. please seek help. You actually bore me to tears.

We need to get the squad number down asap.
Not sell to many of the prised assets
Then the remaining players have to buy in to parker plans:
Only then will I think promotion is on

Meriem Webster defines arrogance as this: "an attitude of superiority manifested in presumptuous claims or assumptions".Wile E Coyote wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 11:28 pmyou need a new dictionary if you think my post can in any shape or form be deemed as arrogant.

If you wish to claim that your post does not show at attitude of superiority or make presumptuous claims, that's fine, but others will disagree.
Please could you point me in the direction of the courses I could attend to prove this (whatever this may be)?

by others, I assume you mean the bovine herd of halfwits that enjoy being illiterate ?
anyway, its a course called basic English for the terminally retarded , it starts at 7-30 at Burnley college. there is a crayon drawn map to poke the dunces in the right direction, give me a call if you're struggling.

whatever happens there is zero excuse for us not to be incredibly strong in the Championship. We have an unbelievable squad at this level imho

O Hare hasn't done anything at all since coming back from his two massive injuries, rumours going around that Hamer is off and that weakens themClaretsPadiham wrote: ↑Sat Jul 20, 2024 5:48 pmBloody hell not bad signings them epically O Hare. We definitely need to start shipping a few out. Hard to keep everybody happy and have any kind of team spirit with such a bloated squad.

It'll have been a challenge for O'Hare coming back from serious injury but he did very well last season on his return. An excellent signing by them.AGENT_CLARET wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2024 6:19 amO Hare hasn't done anything at all since coming back from his two massive injuries, rumours going around that Hamer is off and that weakens them

Re: Straight back up for Burnley, without any doubts.
I have doubts similar to some others.
We don't know who will be in the squad.
We don't know if last season's failures will succeed in The Championship. I don't think it's a 'given' that they will.
It can't it be compared to VKs Championship season. We had a complete reset and we were all surprised and pleased with the new style from the first match. That can't be the case this season - we seem to expect it. In any case VK's early results weren't brilliant but that turned out to be both teething troubles and small adjustments as everyone, VK included, learned realities.
Finally, any manager can talk the talk. We don't have an easy start so I'm just going to wait and see.

What if the club sell all/most of our best players? Re: Straight back up for Burnley, without any doubts.
One would hope that whoever deals with the accounts/numbers is aware that promotion is worth more to us than selling our best players. If they don't know that then we wouldn't deserve to be promoted.
Re: Straight back up for Burnley, without any doubts.
Agree but forced debt repayments may have something to say about that (admittedly we don’t know exactly what that looks like).claretskeith wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2024 9:01 amOne would hope that whoever deals with the accounts/numbers is aware that promotion is worth more to us than selling our best players. Re: Straight back up for Burnley, without any doubts.
I’d imagine that £20-25m for Trafford, similar for Odobert, £10-15m for Muric and £10m for Kompany would be sufficient for this year based off our last relegation. It’s all guesswork though as you say but that’s approaching £70m before we look at loaning out/selling the guys who clearly have no future here (Bastien, Churlinov, Egan-Riley etc).

But surely the lender will likely be aware that promotion gives us a better chance of paying it back quicker.
I wonder if the likes of Chester Perry knows roughly the minimum repayment needed before the window closes.

Re: Straight back up for Burnley, without any doubts.
I’m also fairly confident and more importantly am quite looking forward to it.
Parker has the opposite of VK’s challenge - a bit like pouring all the players into a sieve, giving it a shake, and seeing who are left in it. If we have to let go 10-15 more players, some for dosh, some who ask to go and some he wants to offload, that could bring in a lot of dosh, even the ones going for just a few million each would add to quite a bit.
Cannot rule out Parker deciding a big name striker is needed for £15m-£20m. We have done that in previous promotion seasons (Gray etc) and it would need funding by even more sales. I suspect Parker is making us more defensive so he will want a really good striker to offset that.
But all the other positions we can easily think of a good team including a 1st reserve for each position from players who are likely keen to stay. So that makes me optimistic.

I’m expecting a decent showing and a much more enjoyable season but not assuming anything. A few other clubs will also have high hopes of promotion and the team will have to fight for it. UTC.

Re: Straight back up for Burnley, without any doubts.
We should not underestimate the challenge of promotion-some see it as a given after our 100 plus points in the Championship last time. That time however we had some truly memorable individual performances that won us a number of games. Tella delivered some magical moments like the long goal kick he brought down beautifully at WBA which got us a penalty, his finish at Coventry, plus some of his wonderful strikes. We saw some incredible goals and wizardry from Benson, to a lesser degree from Zarourry. On top of that a couple of game winning goals from Maatsen. Two of these have gone for the other two no guarantee they will regularly feature or indeed recapture that form after being firmly frozen out

It has to be a combination of balancing the books and planning for the PL.
Surely even AP will realise that.

I'd say it's pretty obvious we are talking about the here and now. What happens if we get taken over by the Saudi's, sell all our players and replace them with World class talent ? Hypothetical football scenarios are silly

Sheffield Utd and Luton aren’t going back up
The Jealous Guys from downwind will struggle to stay up
Knobbers will launch their annual fight against promotion
We will go straight back up unless Pace sells players at the last minute with no adequate replacements for that position
