Your current Burnley starting 11

Post by Newcastleclaret93 » Sun Jul 21, 2024 6:23 pm

Difficult to say how Parker will line us up.

But what’s your current starting eleven? (In mine I am assuming both Trafford and Berge will be gone)

Hladky
Vitinho, O’Shea, Esteve, Pires
Cullen, Massengo, Brownhill
Koleosho, Foster, Odobert

You included Odobert who, imo, is more likely to leave (they will prob both go sadly).

------------Trafford
Vitinho-O'Shea-Esteve-Pires
----------Berge-Cullen
-Benson--Brownhill--Odobert
--------------Foster

No idea how Koleosho will be after the injury and though I expect Trafford to leave, I don't know much about Hladky.

Strangely at this level I think Odobert is more replaceable.

For example I think we have a natural replacement in Zaroury/Twine that can step in.

Berge I think is much more difficult to replace

Not sure how you can state 'Current' in the thread title and then start picking a side based on who you think will leave/be here.

Surely you have to pick the side based on players we have now?

Honestly completely forgot we even had Amdouni.

Would potentially put him in my side

I personally think we will lose 2 out of three of the following this window:

Trafford
Odobert
Berge

Our current squad is so good, and has so much depth, that there's several solid starting 11s. Even what I put now could be changed and be just as strong. Not seen much of Pires so not selecting him for that reason.

Hladky
Roberts O’Shea, Esteve Vitinho
Cullen Berge
Koleosho Amdouni Odobert
Foster

Why do folk insist on this kind of ****?

Start a thread called Current Burnley XI then not include players who might leave.

I think Brownhill will leave unless he signs a new deal. I hope Berge and Odobert don't, so have included them in the line up I'd like to see at Luton.

Trafford

Roberts O'Shea Esteve Pires

Beyer

Odobert Cullen Berge Kolo

Foster

Take the current part out then and put whatever team you want.

It’s really not meant to be controversial

And obviously Tresor
Plus a load of other peripheral players, who still played a significant number of minutes in 22-23
It's insane just how many players we have

I think this highlights how strong our squad is.

No Benson, No Zaroury, No JBG, No Amdouni, No Roberts, No Beyer.

They would all walk into every other Championship side.

I wouldn't fancy it to hold out if it came under pressure. There's more to it than a team looking good on paper.

If we aren't playing well is that team going to stay solid and grind out a win. Arguably not. We desperately need a right back *unless Sambo turns out to be our first choice*.
Ideally one that can defend because it sounds like Pires's best attribute isn't going to be his defending either and we already know what happens to Amdouni when we come under pressure.

I remain utterly baffled as to how Tresor keeps making it into peoples first 11s.

Is it more hope than expectation? It must be. Cause it can't be based off what weve seen on the pitch.

Ditto Amdouni and his application.

How soon people seem to have forgotten how frequently Benny was punishing teams at this level once he got into his stride. I'd be going:

Trafford
Vitinho Beyer Esteve Pires
Cullen Berge
Benny Odobert Koleosho
Fozzy.

That front 4 with Berge pulling the strings seems absolutely insane. difficult to see how we're not going to be power fisting teams 3-0 most games without so much as a sliding into the DM'S first, never mind lube.

If Trafford Odobert and Berge get sold then Hladky, Amdouni and Ramsey come in for them though I would hope that if we do lose Berge then his replacement would be our Marquee signing.

To be fair, your point regarding Tresor is well-made but you then go and throw Pires in. I seriously doubt you have ever seen him play. Overall you make no serious claim to your 11.

I haven't seem him play. He's in my 11 by virtue of the fact that he's the only senior specialist left back that we have at the club. Im sticking to what I know where possible and what I know for sure is that a) I'm not having Vitinho there and b) Dodgson not pulling up any trees on loan is gonna preclude him from the conversation.

I doubt people will have seen Pires but it's hardly a surprise people are including him give our lack of natural left back alternative options.

Given Benson does basically no tracking back, I'm not sure your argument holds up. Amdouni's quality is clear for everyone to see. If you aren't playing him because of his off the ball work, then surely you aren't playing Benson either...

I remain utterly baffled as to how Tresor keeps making it into peoples first 11s.

Is it more hope than expectation? It must be. Cause it can't be based off what weve seen on the pitch.
I'm going off what I saw on the pitch in the game's before he come here, also the fact he was played out of position by Kompany and straight from the Belgium league into the Premier league where he struggled.

In fact I'd say 90% of the squad struggled in the Premier league under Kompany but for some reason he's the one player picked out for criticism.

Every season the boo boys like to single a player out that gets crap regardless like Hendrick did and so on and so on.

Lets see what he's like playing in his natural position and after a fair run of game's before everyone writes him off

I think that Tresor guy needs an arm around him and some live to be given an opportunity and faith showed in him, I think he must have something which needs to be uncovered, I also heard he sees himself central like a 10

I mean I wouldn't say he's the one player who's been on the receiving end. Trafford, O'Shea, Cullen, Amdouni, J-Rod, Ramsey besides himself were on the end of some right grief at various stages.

I'm not adverse to him getting a chance and I don't think he should be written off entirely but for him to slide straight in as our number 10 in our strongest line up. Each to his own though.
