Some brilliant players here….
Some brilliant players here….
Looks like some sort of reunion last night in Manchester. Just spotted this on Tom Heaton’s Instagram:

Barnes on crutches.
George Boyd on £500 a week in Padiham’s league next to Tarky who’s on 90k a week.

They got promoted so he will be league above Padiham now, think he was on more than £500 tbh.blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Sun Jul 21, 2024 2:51 pm500 a week in that league is unheard of. Mental figures
Tom Pope ex Port Vale was playing for Congleton in Padiham’s league a few seasons ago he was on £800 a week.
Re: Some brilliant players here….
If nothing else, I hope that Scott Parker gets us closer to having a team of lads like that again.
Some absolutely brilliant characters in there, even if Dwight did come in his pyjamas.

Re: Some brilliant players here….
It’s almost unique in today’s football.
You often see a lot of the players from the early 1970s together. The likes of Casper, Fletcher, Waldron, Thomson, Flynn and Nulty remain good mates but most of them still live locally.
That pic just shows what a good group they were and how well they all got on with each other.

Re: Some brilliant players here….
They have their regular pub meets but can also often be found in a coffee shop too.
I phoned Colin Waldron when we heard that Taffy had passed, he’d asked me to keep him informed should anything happen. I didn’t think it was something you would want to pass on by text.
I told him I was going to let Fletch know and he said he was sat with him. I can’t remember who else was there but definitely Nulty and Billy Rod were.
Typical ex-footballers, always on the wind up, but brilliant lads.
I don’t know all of those on the pic but I don’t have anything but good words for those I do.

Bit of a retro venue too, Cloud 23 - not one of the usual football hangouts these days in Manchester!
Great to see that group including everyone from Marney down to McNeil who played together across various stages of their careers. As has been posted already, if you could bottle the team spirit and bond we had in that group then it would be priceless.

Re: Some brilliant players here….
What an absolute bunch of legends you have there in one shot.
The one thing Dyche did exceptionally well is bond a team. I’m not sure that’s replicable. Pace might eventually crave that secret sauce as the elixir.

Re: Some brilliant players here….
A proper "team" of lads there
Something last seasons lot looked far from.
I don't think the likes of Assignon and Amdouni would fair too well with their antics with Tarky and Mee
I do wonder how last years lot would get on against those 11 in their prime ( putting in Ward at LB )

These guys were certainly not the best players in the PL, but because of the immense team camaraderie , it enabled them a top 7 finish, and I believe there was not a PL side they did not beat, with some immense victories and results against the odds

Great picture and nice to see that they are all still friends. I guess Burnley Football Club will be with them forever.

I have my doubts about Marney and McNeil, but one is probably older than I think and the other is probably younger than I think.

Re: Some brilliant players here….
Previous comments have highlighted the “team spirit” of the group above however I think it would be pretty fair to say that all of the above players improved individually under the Dyche/Woan management, some of them exponentially.
So that’s at least two things Sean and his team did exceptionally well.
