We lack cohesion in the final third it's all a bit underwhelming

I like how all the players whinge like mad about how cold and dull Burnley is to play and train In. Give them a bit of heat and they looked shagged

And as a result there is very little goal threat. We seem unbalanced in playing 3 wide men and trying to shoe horn them into a team

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Foster as a line leading striker should work, yet his desire to drop deep and occupy that area that Odobert (allegedly) is playing in means we have no platform to look after the ball up front.
Yes, it’s a friendly - but still, it’s all I can comment on at this stage. The difference Berge would make in a midfield three with one of Zaroury/Odobert played wide left and the other dropped is immeasurable.

Like an Ashley Barnes type. By all accounts he ran the dressing room and was very well respected amongst the squad

Really disappointed with the away support. They need to make some noise and get behind the team for the next 45.

New season; still think Roberts is robbing the club.
He’s a real weak link in any system we seem to play.

We looked a different side from his debut at Forest. Then Coyle just about ignored him after promotion.blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 6:19 pmLike an Ashley Barnes type. By all accounts he ran the dressing room and was very well respected amongst the squad

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Well a lot of the problems still seem evident - pretty tippy tappy in parts - no hold up player up front - sloppy passes - unbalanced and lacking cohesion at present
Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Playing on a crap, dry, bobbly pitch in 34 degrees was only going to head one way. Enjoying just watching a game.

Yeah that was baffling the lack of game time he got. Shades of benson last season.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 6:20 pmWe looked a different side from his debut at Forest. Then Coyle just about ignored him after promotion.

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Other than the obvious poor marking from the corner, I think it’s been a good run out so far, a few loose touches which is to be expected on a dodgy pitch and in the heat.
However Odobert is a winger not a number 10

I know it's just a training session for fitness but we need to be much better if we think we are going to storm the championship

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Just a friendly reminder to the fans already frothing at the mouth. This game is a pre season friendly. The result doesn’t matter. Fitness and sharpness are the most important things and it’s also important for the manager to experiment tactically and play players in different positions.
We will not win a cup or 3 points by winning today. Please calm down the drama queenery.

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
It’s pre season, it’s hot, they will have trained hard all week (not the usual rest theyd have).
However, we need to be miles better at defending especially the physical contact stuff (that free header was pathetic), Odobert is not a central midfielder (10) for the week in week out rigours of championship football (if at all), Vitinho is still fairly poor at left back and our widemen need to produce much more quality when in possession (Fosters had little opportunity in the box).
All those are legitimate concerns we had last year too.

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
I think we just broke the record for the most over-hit passes in a half.
Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Disappointing.
Nothing up front and lots of misplaced passes.
2nd half we will slay them....honest!

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Ok a practice game. But rubbish. Tippy tappy. Over and back.
Free header at near post for their goal. No hold up play. No shot or attempt on goal.
I await improvements in second half

Playing in this heat - I was resigned to a defeat against a team much more used to it ….
Played some good stuff in parts and having AZ - LK and WO in the same team should cause some real danger next season
Terrifying defences !

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
Just a friendly reminder that everyone said this last season, especially in regards to players looking good or not good in preseason, then lo and behold, some who looked poor in preseason played poorly for real, some who played well in preseason took forever to get the chance then played well for real. The performance problems carried over into the league right through.Foshiznik wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 6:24 pmJust a friendly reminder to the fans already frothing at the mouth. Momentum and performances do matter somewhat- not the be all end all but somewhat, and good performances tend to result in decent results. Results also help with confidence & belief.
If it was purely about fitness they'd just be doing cardio, if it was purely about tactical experiments they'd just do practice rotation games splitting the squad in 2.
I'm certainly not "frothing at the mouth". or panicking over 1 half in preseason but to pretend that the performance or result are completely meaningless is stupid- if it was meaningless, we wouldn't bother.

Re: Cadiz v Burnley Sun 4th August
O'Shea and Esteve too often doing an 'England', just putting their foot on the ball and killing the game for a couple of minutes. Looks like we watched too much of Stones, Walker & co a couple of months ago. Steve has at least managed to push forward a few times though
