It looks like It will be on the app tomorrow and sky documentaries and now TV from the 1st of September. I am presuming that means on demand because you can still watch it on one of the linear channels from tomorrow.

Re: Mission to Burnley 2
its a bit confusing, does that mean if you have Sky Sports+ you can stream the full thing from tomorrow, or just watch it weekly and then the boxset will be uploaded from 1st sept?

A real shame that there is so much unedited foul language that kids below a certain age cannot watch it. We let our family watch the first one, I don’t think I will make the same mistake again. No reason why it cannot be beeped out.
Re: Mission to Burnley 2
It is quite confusing. I've read it as all episodes available from tomorrow on Sky Sports + but i am more than likely wrong.

I have just read the synopsis of the 2nd episode. I wonder what those innovations were

And say worse when with their mates
Re: Mission to Burnley 2
I watched the episode of the first progs, last night.
The astute Mr K had a graph which he described as his success point, after working with a new team each year.
It was 12 games flat line and the a rocket launch straight up. "Every year" He said. Mr P swallowed it.
My question then becomes: So why would we not play the team which gained promotion, ad far as possible and strengthen as we go, when the new folk have madtered the formulas?
As we knew, we sacrificed 12/38 in the Prem. Can't be done.
Our uplift didn't come, because tge players were shot by then.
Mr K would have known that outcome was inevitable.

I'm looking forward to seeing it. I've already dealt with the pain of last season. I'll judge it on its merits.

Started watching series two this morning.
Re: Mission to Burnley 2
Snap, got all my work projects finished for the week in anticipation of spending this morning on this.
Slightly concerning that Matt Williams mentions some players asking for relegation release clauses & mainly the ‘if Kompany leaves’ clause - albeit it didn’t state whether we’d actually signed any of these.
Good little insight into Lee Mooney’s role too.

The ‘if Vinny leaves clause’ mentioned is insane. I really hope nobody was signed with that in their contract, that would be naive in the extreme.

Digging Gudmundson out , disgraceful, also we know where Pace can stick his drum .

Matt Williams: “You can sign Eric Dier from Spurs if you want”
Alan Pace: “I don’t even know who he is”
Two issues with this - “if YOU want” and also those decisions being placed on someone who doesn’t know who Eric Dier is. This isn’t a video game.

Re: Mission to Burnley 2
I made a (few) comment(s) on this at the beginning of last season - if he thought we could take 12 games to gel in the PL then he was utterly deluded, you'd get left behind if you did that and with it being more or less 1/3 of the PL season was utterly insane to even attempt.IanMcL wrote: ↑Thu Aug 08, 2024 1:11 pmI watched the episode of the first progs, last night.

Still frustrates me thinking about it - and yep for the 10,000th time as you alluded to, when you get promotion you keep the team together, ride that 'feel good' wave for as long as possible then slowly make changes as and when is needed.

Re: Mission to Burnley 2
The way Kompany speaks to Gudmundsson in episode two is probably something seen on every training ground across the country at some time or another. It's just disgusting to watch though, regardless of that. Seeing a player who has given far more to the club than most (including Kompany) being belittled in front of everybody. Nasty.
Hard to know if that sort of dressing down went on in the promotion season but going from winning every week and a happy dressing room/training ground to losing every week and things like that going on must have been chalk and cheese for those there in both campaigns. No surprise to see Gudmundsson leave the club when he (presumably) thought Kompany was staying with us.

Just finished episode 1.
VK is obviously going to get a load of stick during this series but I thought he handled the Lyle situation brilliantly and Lyle seemed to suggest VK saved him.

Yes but that was expected. JBG had been used to being treated like a man, by Mr D and respected for his ability, contribution and commitment.
Same with Mr K comments about Asley Barnes. He is very much a 2 faced guy. You don't make jokes about your most loyal players, to boost your own standing.

Re: Mission to Burnley 2
Russell Ball made me laugh out loud when he was speaking with Jordan North in a meeting about the idea of a having a drummer to try to improve the atmosphere at home games, and they were aware it had a negative reaction on social media...
Russell said that there is a school of thought where if the atmosphere goes a bit flat, a picture of a drum comes up on the big screen, insinuating that it could be used as a threat if fans don't start making more noise!
Apparently Alan Pace didn't see the funny side of that for some reason!

Re: Mission to Burnley 2
Just watched that and it was shocking. I thought VK was some kind of transcendent man manager based on his reputation but this just shows he's a bully and poor at dealing with people. Granted, what we have seen of how he managed Lyle appears to be good and proper, but that's only what we have seen.jedi_master wrote: ↑Fri Aug 09, 2024 10:17 amThe way Kompany speaks to Gudmundsson in episode two is probably something seen on every training ground across the country at some time or another. I know in any other line of work if a manager spoke to an employee like that there would be disciplinary trouble for them and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if someone smacks him at some point if he does that again - I mean, can you imagine him shouting at someone like Ibrahimović and seeing how well he fares...!

Re: Mission to Burnley 2
Just finished, I found it more enjoyable than season 1 in a weird way, you find out more about folk when things aren’t going well. Highlights for me:
- Dave Checkett’s (short) appearance and speech to the board in episode 4 were great, I thought he nailed it
- Matt Williams impressive again throughout
- enjoyed seeing more of Lee Mooney and his role, I like him and glad he’s still involved this season
- Pace is a good man who wants the best for the club, I really believe that (yes he’s got a financial interest too obv), he’s got a lot wrong and is still quite naive (none more so than his closed minded love in for Kompany) but hopefully he learns (the change in management structure suggests so). The way he was taken aback by Kompany’s departure was quite something.
- cautiously optimistic they are aware they need to try and keep the core of this squad together, and it’s clear promotion the number 1 objective this season, no talk of 2/3 year plan whatsoever

Pace looked lost when Checketts spoke and told him really we were getting it wrong and explained to him how the previous manager had kept us in the Premier League.
Ball came across poorly I thought, never more so than when he was banging Alan's drum.

Only watched the first one. Lyle seems like a really decent young man, needs looking after.
Redmond seems like a solid head in the dressing room too

Re: Mission to Burnley 2
Right there, in the first few minutes of episode 2, is the reason we got relegated. Kompany’s an arrogant clown. He’d clearly run out of ideas and resorted to blaming others (JBG in this case). He’d lost the dressing room so early in the season with his babbling nonsense and then shouting and bawling and here is the evidence, laid bare. The tactics and signings weren’t working. The players knew that and lost faith in him and his arrogance to stick to his “plan”. We all knew it, too.
I was one of those at the time saying he should be sacked because of the poisonous atmosphere around the club. Of course we’ll never know if that would have made a difference, but doing nothing certainly got us relegated.
No matter what happens this season, I’m delighted Kompany’s no longer associated with our great club and that JBG still is.

Interesting that Benny had the reputation as a bit of party animal too, probably contributed to him not playing.
