Surprised this has gone under the radar on here.

Lee Carsley appointed interim manager. Presumably until the first choice becomes available.

If he does well, he’ll possibly keep the job

Did brilliantly with the U21’s and won that tournament last summer
A lot of the current senior team will know him

There really is no senior English manager who I'd be happy to have, so let's see how he does.

Think only Gordon and Palmer have played under him

It suggests to me that the first choice wants to give a seasons notice, which is honourable, or wants to have his full year out .
Carsley does play a more attacking style of football to Southgate so it may well be his job to lose and the 12 months is a trial.

I can totally see your way of thinking, but I think they want to give Carsley a chance to prove he's the right man for the job.

I really don't think it's a case of them having a better choice or anything like that.

Just hope we get to see some exciting football under Carsley. Southgate in my opinion is no different to what Kompany did with us last year a one trick pony. Difference being we have had the best England team for a lot of years that are all attack minded. Southgate should have took a squad full of defensive players with less ability as he made some exceptional players look poor. Pep or Klopp would have been laughing at the way he set is team up.
