Kevin Gallagher
Was given the opportunity yesterday at presenting Radio Lancs football prog. Hopeless and thick. Apart from inane ramblings about other teams his major faux pas was making reference to Scott Read reporting on Burnley for 25 years as being 'unfair' on him followed by the ubiquitous nervous giggle when he realised it wasn't just his sycophantic mates hanging on his every word. Local derby coming up and they let a numpty like that loose. Gary Bowyer also in attendance so by the time I got home my ebullient mood had been dimmed. Surely the radio station can do better than that, can't they?

'Hopeless and thick'

Re: Kevin Gallagher
Its Radio "Blackburnashire" what do you expect ... driving home from the game, It was all B'tards and PNE ... Then the post match presser with Scott P came on, and when it finished they straight back to discussing B'tards and PNE ...Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 4:42 pmWas given the opportunity yesterday at presenting Radio Lancs football prog. Re: Kevin Gallagher
I had the misfortune to listen to some of this on the way home. He was absolutely dreadful. He could hardly string a sentence together and it was painful to listen to. Throw Gary 'Mogadon Man' Bowyer into the mix and it was the radio programme from hell. How that clown Gallacher got the gig is unfathomable.

I thought Radio Lancashire was anti-Burnley, so hardly a surprise.

Re: Kevin Gallagher
The thought it would have been a decent listen on way home after the game - how wrong was I
For the 40mins I heard the focus was on PNE and Rovers and the only mention I heard of is was the reference to Scott Reed covering us for 25years

I listened to this in the car on the way home.
The first requirement of a presenter is to be articulate.
I'm afraid Kevin Gallagher falls at the first hurdle.

Re: Kevin Gallagher
Just pray that Moyes doesn’t get the job at Dumpdale, otherwise we will have to listen to all the Radio Blackburn sports reporters getting a semi on again over “ Moysie and the Boys”.
I too had the misfortune of listening to approximately 10 mins of Gallagher “cringe “ yesterday. It was embarrassing

Re: Kevin Gallagher
I caught it driving home after the match yesterday, what an utter shambles.
Radio Blackburn trying to shoehorn a Dollopers 'legend' into the role as he's seen as a big name.
I lasted about 5 minutes then turned it off.

Re: Kevin Gallagher
I stayed tuned in for about 10 mins as I said, hoping for some coverage of Lancashires top team, alas to no avail. The only time Gallagher managed to say “ Burnley”, was the inaccurate and inept reference to Scott Reed. Scottish bell endery of the highest order. I definitely won’t be tuning in again.

It’d be career suicide again for him, after doing so well to rebuild his reputation following Man United and Sunderland.

I also listened on the way home... he was obviously struggling. Anchoring a radio show isn't for everyone, even if you're a regular guest.
Re: Kevin Gallagher
He would actually make an excellent anchor ... 100ft of heavy duty chain round his ankles and he would stop any boat from movingclaretfern wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 5:42 pmI also listened on the way home... he was obviously struggling. He was dreadful last night after the game. Couldn’t string a sentence together - totally out of his depth.

Re: Kevin Gallagher
It takes me roughly 20 minutes to get home to Padiham and apart from the first couple of minutes being about Blackpool the rest of the journey was spent listening to Gary Bowyer quizzing Gallagher on every aspect of their performance at Norwich. Not one peep or mention of anything else apart from the section about Scott Read and Gallaghers quip.Silkyskills1 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 4:42 pmWas given the opportunity yesterday at presenting Radio Lancs football prog. If this is the direction Radio Blackbu...i mean Radio Lancashire are going down I'll stick with Radio 5 in future.

Re: Kevin Gallagher
I usually put it on for the managers interview on my way home. But last nights programme was abysmal. Blame the producer.
Re: Kevin Gallagher
I got in my car, listened for ten minutes and switched off. It was excruciatingly bad. Even with the perceived bias I normally enjoy listening to Radio Lancs on the way home but this was just rank!
Re: Kevin Gallagher
Not listened to radio Lancashire for years. Do Glenn and Paul Weller still contribute? As for Gallagher, what a weapon

I accidentally met Gallagher in a Blackburn pub (on the way to a game at Deepdale, when the M65 ended in Blackburn) and I harbour the same feelings toward him.

Re: Kevin Gallagher
Admittedly, it was 20 minutes after the final whistle when I got to my car so I might have missed the Burnley section, but what followed seemed to be entirely devoted to Blackburn and Preston padded out with all sorts of drivel.
When they then went on to Blackpool and Morecambe I gave up.

And I’ve got memories of the late 70’s loving the radio station and its “goal action” jingle………..was it as biased back then?

Re: Kevin Gallagher
Yes, we had Jack Holden eulogising about Blackburn before he set off for the game and after he got there.Jimmymaccer wrote: ↑Sun Aug 18, 2024 7:37 pmAnd I’ve got memories of the late 70’s loving the radio station and its “goal action” jingle………..was it as biased back then?
Banging on about Scott Sellars, the pitch, Scott Sellars, the sun is shining, Scott Sellars, Nuttall Street is packed, Scott Sellars, dancing girls, Scott Sellars, and Scott bleedin' Sellars.
Then after the match, usually, Jack again, oh dear, oh dear, oh dear............... but Scott Sellars.......

Jack “ Blackburn “ Holden: “ Errrrrrr in the firrrrrst minute ………………. Blah Blah Blah errrrrrrrrrrrr”
“ Errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr in the secondddddddd minute ……………………… Blah Blah Blah errrrrrrrrrrrrrrr”
Repeat for 90 minutes. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. No other reporter got a look in after boring old Jack.
Christ on a bike he was dreary.

Re: Kevin Gallagher
I used to find Jack Holden hilarious! He couldn’t bring himself to say a bad word about Rovers and you’d listen to his half time report eulogising about how Rovers had had most of the play, Scott Sellers controlling the midfield (but no mention of goal) thinking Rovers must be winning surely! Then he’d finally get to the score at the end of his report, ‘So the half time score here at Ewood, Rovers 0 Charlton 2’.

Ian Chisnall was another. Blackpool were always the better side but never seemed to win.

I live in Devon and missed the match commentary on Clarets+ because my package hadn’t been updated so i tuned into radio Lancashire to get good match report but all i got was over 40mins bullsh*t from Kevin Gallagher i never heard crap like it he gave a new meaning to word useless with his inane drivel i would have been better off tuning into radio Cardiff or whatever they have. I will glad to hear Phil Bird next week.

Re: Kevin Gallagher
Had the misfortune to tune into this last saturday - waited for anything about Burnley for about 30 mins and then thankfully I crossed the pennine divide and the signal disappeared.
What a bad show and what a terrible presenter.
