Burnley v Spurs 1962 FA Cup Final ...
I came across this vintage advert on one of the Facebook sites. Reading some of the comments, it's rather chastening to learn that following the sad passing of Tottenham's Terry Medwin, on the 1st May last, there are now only two survivors from this match, our own Alex Elder and Cliff Jones of Tottenham ... how the years fly !

I was there with my Dad. 2 great teams!

Very good description of the exact colours. However, I take exception to a League Founder Member having their sleeves described as Arsenal style.

I went to that game with a friend and his Dad. Lost touch with the friend decades ago but he's a member on this board, forget his handle.

The first cup final that I watched with my dad. Being born and bred on London, it somehow turned me into a lifelong Burnley supporter.

Listened on the radio as no tv. Went back to school and played in the playground. One lad said, "We'll be Spurs". I replied "We'll be Burnley ".
Then later it rained. Wet platlytime. We played a knock out with old penny as your player and 6 pence for the ball. The lad taking down the teams looked up, saw ne and said "You'll be Burnley".
He was right.
From Reading, to Salisbury, to Stirling. Still Burnley!

Stockings, Hose, Socks....
Today I would think 'hose' is most appropriate.

Coach from Central Motors at midnight......
......To say this day was a disappointment would be an understatement......we hardly turned up.
Then fast forward seven months and who are we drawn against in the Third Round of the '62/'63 FA Cup ?......Yeah, it's Tottenham again at White Hart Lane, and on an ice covered pitch on a Wednesday afternoon in January we simply blow them away 3-0.....Harris, Connelly & Lochhead (I think).
If only......when it really mattered.

Went by car with my dad and his friend and son. The other lad took supporting Burnley to a different level than I ever could though. He got as far as playing for the reserves.

That image of Jimmy Greaves calling us "big-tme bottlers" will stay with me forever.
Man for man we were more than equal of that superb 'Spurs side.....but in the big moment they had the edge.

I went as a 14 year old with a mate from school who supported Spurs He had a ticket from a relation in Middlesbrough, I had to buy mine from a tout at the ground. We made arrangements to meet after after the game but on examination of the tickets . It turns out they were both in exactly the same stand behind the goal
