Bench looks light but will people stop with this bed wetting please…

Watching the standard of the league from games I have seen so far, this starting 11 should be able to hold its own.
The goal isn't 'to hold our own' though, it's to romp the league and get promoted.

Only have a small window after relegation to do it in, having wholesale changes like this is just spinning our wheels at best.

Spend some fkn money, you can’t keep selling your better players for big money and replacing them with cheap
Why not?

We've hit quite well on cheap players.

We'll be OK. They'll invest. This is necessary churning after relegation.

Just amazed how weak the bench has become in less than 7 days. The only guys you would expect to come on are Andouini and Humphreys

My take on how we will set up.

Aye should still be competitive that. Obv Worrall will be coming into the 11 next week. Looking forward to seeing Massengo and Hountondji.

Huge overreaction to that team as expected.

Don't know much about Egan-Riley but otherwise it's a really strong team for this league. The bench is thin because of injury/illness.

Probably win today, but a point is fine.
Give over. We had nearly 40 players recently (far too many). We've named 20 today, including 3 keepers and 3 kids. Not a winger in sight. We had 9.

It's an interesting perspective that the lad who played really well on the right wing in our 4-1 and 5-0 wins isn't a winger but not one I personally subscribe to.

That bench is a disgrace, really.

2 goalkeepers just to pad it out.

To not have an out and out winger available is quite something when you think of how many we actually had!

Vitinho's best position is wide-right, so good to see him there.

Good grief.

Big week ahead. I think we'll know by this time next week where ALK are at, if we don't know already.

1 - Give over will you. We do not know why the squad is like this. If it is as someone has suggested a mixture of illness, injuries and player sales then we do not know who is down to what. Koleosho is injured and with the squad today to support them. Shame some on here can't even do that.

2 - The aim is to get promoted but you don't win/lose the league in August.

3 - It's a long season and the quality of this league looks poor so far from what I have seen. Every team appears to be suffering with some challenge- whether it be lack of money, player sales, or injuries... It's not just Burnley that is impacted.

4 - If players aren't available, what do you propose we do - look at it with a glass half full lens and you will see that we will get to see how good some of these players we haven't seen properly are.

Holding our own is exactly what we need to do. Let's not panic eh..

"Live from Turf Moor! Burnley return to the Premier League at the first time of asking! No mean feat! But what's this? Chairman Alan Pace has marched into the centre circle and sacked Parker on the spot! "We wanted a romp!" he says! The Cricket Field Stand are all shouting "Romp, romp, romp!" Put the confetti cannons away! Reverse the open-top bus back into Queensgate depot! Burnley have chosen to play in the North West Counties as punishment for not romping the league. Back to you Chappers."

I get the feeling some on here are happy with that line up so they can unleash their built up bile. At the end of the day there's only 2 players in that starting 11 that wouldn't be classed as first teamers ;)

Players like Odebert, JBG, Berge etc. were available but we've chosen to sell them.

As yet we haven't got adequate replacements looking at todays team.

No, we need to win and keep a team together so that we don't have ridiculous, unsustainable upheaval at the start of every season.

I assume Sambo as a full back could do a job of some sort today as a winger?

Surely McNally is better suited a centre back with his experience of the past two seasons?

Some players really have a chance to show what they can do, CJ, Massengo and Hountondji especially, we might be pleasantly surprised. UTC

There lots that is mysterys today, but the biggest are why is Amdouni not starting and why is CJER starting before McNally? I'd rather risk the £2m we are likely to get for him than play a small, inexperienced CJER at cb.

Maybe just maybe we have certain players who aren`t 100% and SP is playing it safe given next saturdays fixture when the Sh*t would hit the fan if players were played today and made them unavailable for next week, prioritising just a thought. UTC

Do not like the look of that side. We’ve gone from a really strong side and bench in the first two to this. Be surprised if we get anything today with this team.

Given the 20 named, the only changes I would see would be Amdouni for Jay and McNally for Egan Riley
What it also shows is our depth in central midfield is non existent

Well yeah - right midfield - winger. There's little to no difference in today's game.

He's best attacking - right.

The sides good enough, but that bench is a total mystery. Why?
I get players can fall ill, but that's ridiculous. Obviously Dara is off, but Cullen and Luca, I don't believe they are going anywhere, and ontop of other players Traff included, who's doing the catering at Barnfield.

In the manager we have to trust, but a result today would be brilliant.

Disappointing, I'll agree.

Have you forgotten our bench under so much of Dyche's years? Frequently struggled to put 5 1st team standard players out but we coped.

Let's see what happens this week. It's a long season.

Good positive team selection there from Scotty. Its not even September yet he is prepared to give everyone in the squad a run out.
Great confidence to be able to do just this.

This now doesn't look like a Championship winning side but hopefully with the return of injured players and incomings (?) we might still make a go of it but I am not so confident as I was as too many first teamers seem to be leaving at the earliest opportunity.

When we played Luton they fielded two untested teenagers in the back 4 due to an injury crisis. They took a bit of a pasting so let’s hope for a better result this afternoon.

Hopefully Egan Riley and Massengo step up to the mark and prove our strength in depth is actually stronger than we thought.
