Trafford 7 - did ok. Solid enough.

Roberts 6 - gave the ball away needlessly a few times but had zero help down that side when he looked up for support.
Egan-Riley 8 - thought he was very good. Strong in the challenge and composed on the ball. Lack of football at this level showed toward the end of the game.
Esteve 7 - solid enough and never given the run around.
Pires 3 - he’s so weak defensively and lightweight on the ball. Very poor.

Massengo 4 - way out of his depth today. Looked off the pace and out of position often.
Brownhill 5 - not his finest game but didn’t have much help in there.

Vitinho 3 - dreadful. A limited player but usually gives his all. Today he was limited and with no desire and a rank bad attitude. Offered nothing and looked like he didn’t want the ball.
Houtoundji 4 - made some good runs but thrown in at the deep end. No real threat out wide.
Rodriguez 4 - tried to link play but never found space and looks laboured. This number ten role does not suit him. He’s a centre forward or nothing.
Foster 3 - didn’t see the “immense work rate” today. Also didn’t see any running of the channels. In fact, he was static and offered nothing.

Amdouni 6 - looked a level above without showing too much interest and desire to get us back in it.
Sambo 4 - another full back on the wing….great!!

Went up there today with a bit of optimism knowing Clarke was missing for them. After seeing our team sheet the optimism quickly drained and we played how I imagined we might do. Sunderland weren’t very good…….we were worse.

Trafford 6 - Was absolutely fine. Distribution was a little slow, but there was absolutely zero movement in front of him
Roberts 5 - Better second half, but struggled against Mundle first half. Some woeful distribution
Pires 5 - See Roberts
Esteve 7 - Solid
Egan-Reilly 7 - An impressive cameo. Main bright spot today
Brownhill 4 - Miles off it
Massengo 5 - Looked lost
Rodriguez 4 - Doesn’t have the legs for that role
Vitinho 4 - The rumours about him refusing to play might not have been true, but he performed like he didn’t want him to be here
Hountdonji 4 - Sincerely hope we’ve not signed a dud
Foster 4 - Also miles off it

Amdouni 5 - A few flashes, but largely ineffective

Why are you still defending VK when he literally binned us off  either get over him or just go and support Bayern (and I never called for VK to be sacked either).
I get what he's saying.

This performance was everything the first two weren’t but then this squad was everything the first two weren’t. Yet as bad as this performance was, it was only ever going to be a single goal game. Defensively we were ok but going forward there was a lack of… well, anything really.

Trafford 7 decent game

Roberts 6 could prob all have done better with the goal and got caught out quite a bit first half. Zero options in front of him.

Egan-Riley 7 did well, looked like he gave a toss

Esteve 7 same

Pires 3 awful going both ways

Massengo 5 needed Cullen next to him not Brownhill

Brownhill 4 needed to not be sat back next to Massengo

Rodríguez 4 not very good

Vitinho 4 always been one for having a few good uns then a few bad uns but this showed why he shouldn’t be getting games as a first choice winger

Hountondji 3 Nimani-esque

Foster 5 isolated

Amdouni 6

A real challenge for the new manager now, which is a good thing both for him and us. He’ll have known players would be leaving so whilst it will be a bit difficult at the moment, it will calm down when the window shuts. A lot of people have said he’s only got teams promoted that should have been with the squads they had. That’s now not going to be the case here so it’s a test of his mettle as much as anything.

not going to give ratings as some of these players were thrown in at the deep end, what worries me is selling your best players you are not going to compete at the top end unless you buy like for like and i just don't see it happening. It's a worry and i pray we get it sorted but today we looked miles off it ...

Trafford 7
Roberts 5
Egan-Riley 7
Esteve 7
Pires 4
Vitinho 4
Brownhill 5
Massengo 7
Houtoundji 3 Nimanis lad
Foster 4
Rodriguez 5

Amdouni 4

All those that want Amdouni to stay ( again hilarious) he's absolutely NO interest in staying and only wants to go to Benfica. Only a complete simpleton would have realised he has zero interest in playing for Burnley months ago!

Trafford 6 - the least of our worries today

Roberts 6 - nobody to hit in front of him
Egan-Riley 7 - thought he did well
Estève 7 - see ER
Pires 3 - awful

Massengo 4 - folks giving him 7s and 8s - wow. Runs around a lot, slow, doesn’t win any tackles, only passes backwards or sideways - slowly. He’s absolutely nowhere near
Brownhill 4 - lost in that system today - wasted
Vitinho 4 - he’s either good or bad - not much in between

Rodriguez 4 - feel for him - a number 10 he isn’t
Hountondji 3 - for all the chatter of how bad we were he has to score that header. In relative terms it’s a sitter - and he doesn’t even hit the target. Garbage
Foster 4 - no service and looked like he’d lost interest 20 minutes in

Amdouni 6 - at least he showed for the ball, whether he’s got his passport in his pocket ready to go or not

Pre season has proved to be a complete waste of time. Where we are at now compared to a week ago is just staggering. Feel for the manager - he’s been sold down the river this week. God help Pace and co if anything resembling that side lines up Saturday

When was the last time we looked so poor in this division? Hull away on Boxing Day almost 10 years ago?

Trafford
7
- I think he did OK. His distribution is still weak, but as I've said after Luton, I think he improved a lot in the box.

Pires 4 - Very poor. Couldn't do the basics right.

Esteve 7
MOTM - Good game.

Roberts 5 - They targeted him for a reason in the first half. Looked slightly steadier later, but still way off.

Brownhill 5 - He becomes a ghost every time he needs to step up and become a leader.

Massengo 5 - Tried but not good enough.

Vitinho 4 - Awful. Not surprising, though. He's always been hot and cold. Just because he started well, doesn't mean he can be as dangerous on regular basis.

Hountoundji 3 - The worst one for me. The fact he went off, and CB replaced him, tells you all you need to know.

Jay 4 - Way past it.

Foster 4 - Don't think he won a single duel.

-----
Amdouni 5 - Didn't do much.

Parker 3
- The board did him dirty, but surely this team is better than 4 shots in 90 minutes. I was really struggling to see what was our gameplan today.
Forgot about Egan-Riley - 7. The only positive surprise from yesterday's game.

Trafford 7 - Decent. I thought he could have done better with the goal but on review, it wasn't his fault.

Roberts 5 - Gave the ball away but not a lot to give it to.
Egan-Riley 7 - A few silly moments and a needless booking but a pleasing display wih good touches.
Estève 7 - Usual calmness and conposure under the cosh.
Pires 3 - Not a game he'd wish to remember. His fk was a highlight for the wrong reason.

Massengo 4 - there's a player there but I can see why he hasn't been selected much. MIssing a "bite" in his play.
Brownhill 5 - Not an awful lot positive on the ball. His positioning was good, in places. Very quiet for a "captain".
Vitinho 4 - One of his downs that he throws in with his ups. Positioning, movement, passing, dribbling were all under par.

Rodriguez 4 - Another who looked "off" the pace. Dropped deep but made no impact.
Hountondji 4 - He's not been bought as ready to play and that was clear. A little clumsy. I was disappointed with the header but it wasn't as easy as we think. Hope he improves quickly. Young players need support and not destroying like VK did with JT.
Foster 4 - Another missing piece in an abject team performance.

Amdouni 6 - Looked like he could be a difference maker. You can see he has great technique. Looked to move us but, ah, one of those days.

Unfortunately, it was a side which was cobbled together. All the work in preseason for what? I feel for SP. A good team away from home at a packed out stadium with a poor ref and a side which had its heart removed. What chance did he/we/they have!

Be careful not to crucify our young players. Be supportive. No doubt the board are replenshing the depleated attacking options and I hope we get them before Rovers next weekend. This could be a very bad week for us, otherwise, with this game the cup and the derby all rolled together.

On a final note: I hope CD isn't going to be this year's version of LW in 23/24. We appear to have a million players capable of playing CD and not much to choose from going forwards. Invest in RW, LW, CF and a commanding CM.

Trafford - 6
Roberts - 4
Egan Riley - 6
Esteve - 6
Pires - 3
Vitinho - 4
Brownhill - 4
Massengo - 4
Hountondji - 4
Jay Rod - 3
Foster - 4

Amdouni - 5

Just thoroughly shocking. I thought we were going to have a tough day with the announced squad but jeez the performance even surpassed how bad I’d thought we’d be. This next week is probably going to be the biggest week in Burnley’s history in nay on 35 years. The club is a mess.

Trafford 7 - little to do but looked more confident in the air than usual, no chance with the goal
Roberts 5 - struggled a bit with Mundle early on but grew into it, just had no one in front of him to pass to
Egan-Riley 7 - solid, together with Esteve kept their striker completely out of the game and very few of their attacks came centrally
Esteve 7* - as Egan-Riley but without the petulant booking
Pires 4 - out of position a few times, like Roberts no chance of playing it forward when there are no options
Massengo 5 - comfortable on the ball but didn't do much with it
Brownhill 4 - disappearing act today, disappointing
Vitinho 4 - as Brownhill
Hountondji 4 - looked out of position on the wing, may do better in a more central role. Header was a very difficult chance
Rodriguez 5 - some nice touches but spent too much time deep to be effective
Foster 4 - hung out to dry up front on his own, looked frustrated and gave away a few needless free kicks

Amdouni 6 - added a bit of impetus when he came on and made some nice runs, but unfortunately no end product

Trafford 5

Roberts 4 wasteful in possession.
Egan-Riley 7 nothing wrong
Esteve 7
Pires 4 their right hand side ran rings around us

Vitinho 3 had a shocker
Massengo 4 looked out of his depth
Brownhill 3 worst game he’s had for us I’d suggest
Rodriguez 5

Hountdontji 3 anonymous
Foster 5

Parker - 5 every sympathy with him but feel he was proving a point to the board. Amdouni should have started or at least been on at half time.
