Official site confirms it's permanent. So ends a disaster signing. Suspect a massive weight of the wage bill. Can't think we got anything more than a nominal fee.

I've got a funny feeling this isn't the last we've seen of big Wout and he'll be back one day in a coaching capacity.

It's a shame. If he had stayed until the end of the season we may have given him a testimonial.

Re: ARTICLE: Weghorst goes back home to sign for Ajax
He’s a good footballer. Holds it up, brings teammates in, works back. Sadly he was never the goalscorer we were hoping for. Understandable he wanted out if he had been told he wouldn’t make the National squad whilst in the Championship. Once our fans turned against him over that he was done.
Best wishes from me.

Wout had no clout
I actually rated him as a player. Just wasn't the right fit.

Glad it's finally done and we can move on from a deal gone horribly wrong for the club. Just a shame the permanent move did not come 2 years ago.
No point holding onto ill feelings towards him now imo, so all the best to him.

Re: ARTICLE: Weghorst goes back home to sign for Ajax
I suppose we've had busier windows but never seen anything quite like this in the last week.
Bashir Humphreys signed eight days ago and since then we've had three more in and seven out.

Re: ARTICLE: Weghorst goes back home to sign for Ajax
Does anyone know how much of a financial loss we've made on him?
I'm guessing all the others that have been sold this window were at a profit?

Re: ARTICLE: Weghorst goes back home to sign for Ajax
Not arsed that he's going but it's nowhere near our worst signing. Even financially, with those loans to Man Utd and Turkey I imagine we covered his wages and possibly even got a fee? Don't know how that works. Plus whatever we get back from Ajax which won't be much.
Didn't fancy playing 2nd division football for anyone, we don't have to take it personally.

Twitter pages suggesting €6 mill for wout.. glad it's done and dusted either way.
Re: ARTICLE: Weghorst goes back home to sign for Ajax
It didn't work out for us in the end but we'll always be able to say Wout Weghorst played for Burnley Football Club.

Re: ARTICLE: Weghorst goes back home to sign for Ajax
At Luton he played with a smile, worked his socks off when he came on and had a rapport with the fans, but still didn't score. I remember the miss at Villa being awful, but on replays it doesn't look as bad as I thought. Misunderstood, miscommunication. We'll have made a profit on Wout over the 3 years, £5M and the loans fees will have amounted to more than the £12M we paid. It could have been so much better though......

Twice he's refused to play in the Championship. I would have really liked him to stay because I think he's a good player. But he can sod off.

Re: ARTICLE: Weghorst goes back home to sign for Ajax
A signing that looked good to start with but didn't really work out for either party in the end for various reasons so probably best Wout and BFC have parted company.
Still don't think he deserved the vitriol he received from some Burnley fans though, especially the ones booing him during a pre-season friendly.
Good luck to him.
