Foster could keep his spirits up if he started scoring but he just doesn’t take up good positions.
How often does he have a near miss or bring a great save from the keeper? Zero for me.
His power running and closing down are his biggest assets. Sadly they are the bonuses in a CF and not his primary job.

I don't think we got over the odds for anyone. If anything they were slightly on the low side, especially O'Shea. Odobert was about right, Berge again OK maybe a bit low, would have hoped thr Utd interest would have pushed up his value a bit.

How about we offer Foster on a 5 months loan to Plymouth to take Whittaker, give them time to sign a replacement

We need an out and out forward, we can't go until January with the three we have currently

Need another striking option and a number 10. It’s not looking likely.

His squad number was 47 so probably an u21 player
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
If not an academy player I’m guessing that is either Jamal Lewis or Alvyn Sanches.

Wasn't Odobert 47? Number irrelevant these days as players often like to choose their own.
Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Yep that looks it unless Trafford goes and they’ve got a replacement ready in waiting.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 5:37 pmWhat are our predictions then before 11pm?

With the millions we've brought in there's no need to sell Trafford to bring Whittaker inSuperjohnnyfrancis wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 5:53 pmSell Trafford buy Whitaker , seems fairly obvious.

For photos I don't think the number matters, probably just wanted him in a Burnley shirt for a front on photo.

I think Laurent and Sanches. I'm hoping for a striker in the mix on top. Not bringing in a striker would be poor. You need a minimum of three to rotate around for a full campaign.

If we get a forward player in now it's probably one that's gone completely under the radar.

Would have liked another left footed option from the right hand side for sure and probably both a 10 and an out and out striker .
Gift Orban whoever he ends up going to will in my opinion be very exciting for that club.

Agreed about Orban. Obviously loads of talent, but needs it nurturing and bringing out. Someone in the Championship COULD end up with a real gem.Hedontplayforyou wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 5:59 pmWould have liked another left footed option from the right hand side for sure and probably both a 10 and an out and out striker .

Really? It was only a couple of pages ago you were having a go at Roberts being devastatingly weak defensively. Not that he’s a full international or anything…Goliath wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 5:07 pmSome players aren't good enough, don't care about the club and haven't given us years of service.
Jay Rod is the opposite of that and deserves a bit more respect than is shown to him. If you think it's fair to bundle him in with the likes of Vitinho, who is pretty much the only one I criticise consistently then that's up to you.
Personally I think he deserves more than that. How many players have we had born and raised in the town that have gone on to represent their country and then come back to represent their hometown club for a second time. He could have left numerous times since he re-signed and in the end has chosen loyalty each time.

The wages won’t work but Danny ings would be perfect to end the window, he’s classed as home grown at the club to so wouldn’t have to have Jay Rod on the bench every week

I am hoping that we are keeping Foster, Steve, Josh and crucially Kolo. Think it would be a mistake to let Leeds have Benny. Maybe Scotty can motivate the latter and use tomorrow?

He is weak defensively and has never been a top defender but I'm pretty sure I didn't use the term devastatingly weak.roperclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 6:00 pmReally? Being an international for Wales isn't the same as being an England international..He also wanted to leave the club and sign for Leeds a few months ago and spent most of his time here under Dyche sulking as well. I'm not sure of the relevance of this though unless you think Roberts and Rodriguez have the same sort of legacy at the club which clearly isn't the case.

It’s not about Jay or Roberts, the relevance is that you seem to think it’s ok to criticise some players, but don’t like it when others do if you don’t agree.Goliath wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 6:07 pmHe is weak defensively and has never been a top defender but I'm pretty sure I didn't use the term devastatingly weak.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
As it stands, the squad is primarily short of a replaceme for Obafemi. If Benson doesn't go, we've got enough wide right, we've got Tresor who as it stands is still our player at no 10 - but the big gap is an option up front given Jay is 35 and Hountondji (whilst I thought he showed some promise at Wolves) is still transitioning to this country and standard of football, and is raw with it.

After relegation the best players staying in the PL was to be expected. Good money in and good luck to them.
Not bothered about any of the others leaving and totally agree with the above.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
Agree another number 9 is vital because for various reasons we cannot rely on who we have for the entirety of the next 4 months.
I still think Tresor is off, too many Nice rumours, so I’m a bit concerned behind the striker. I still feel one big signing is needed or we may be falling a bit short.
The trouble with the likes of Orban is we only have 1 starting spot in that role, and he wouldn’t come here to sit the bench. That’s a big issue in that position, wingers switch sides and tend to just play 60-70 minutes so there is room for a few. The lone striker, less so.
