Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
I like Hannibal - think if he's deployed there it's more of a 'false 10' (hate that expression) akin to the Hendrick role when Dyche played him there - just not seeing the players to unlock a low block and where the goals are coming from?RVclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:46 pmHannibal is a pressing machine and signs from the other night suggests Parker will use him there a lot. And I think he is quite technical / creative. Flemming will add goals too (if he signs, you are right he’s not confirmed yet, but it was him landing on the heli at our training ground it seems). I forgot to add Brownhill who has 2 goals from 3 games.

Re: Summer 2024 Transfer Window Discussion - Rumours and Links welcome
If we sign Flemming I think this will have been an outstanding window. Yes, obviously we could have done with a very good forward but these players are usually the most expensive and most difficult to sign.
We ****** the league a couple of years with Jay and Ash as our main forwards. Who knows what Hountondji may be like if he is played in his proper position as a central striker. He may play the Barnes role perfectly by bringing others into play. He's certainly a big unit.
I would much rather play Blackburn a few months down the line once the new signings had settled in and started to gel but I still can't wait for tomorrow.

I’ve no idea if Flemming (or even Whittaker) are any good, but we definitely need reinforcements up front.

I think people are in the mindset of the Premier league still. As you say, that squad on paper is good as any in the league, and to me it is good enough for promotion.wadeswondergoal wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:46 pmTrafford, Hdlaky, Green

Pies, Dodgson

Benson, Anthony, Sarmiento, Koleosho, Tresor, Ramsay, Ageyi
Jay, Foster, Hountondji
That’s as strong as any squad in this division

We can get a forward in January if needed, I'm sure we've got enough to stay in contention till then.

Hello TT, see what I’ve done here, I’ve waited a while,(busy living a good life) and while I’m relaxing I’ve come back to this post simply by looking at the ‘notification’ button.Tricky Trevor wrote: ↑Wed Aug 28, 2024 11:30 amHow far back did you scroll to find that? Just to have a cheap pop. Or had you saved it?
Whatever let it go fella, breath enjoy the day.
And to answer your question, at the time when I logged in the last page I looked at was right there in front of me with someone posting ITK info which wasn’t correct, as I’d just seen a reveal video on X/twitter which wasn’t a ‘multi reveal’
But you’re right in a way, it should mean less than nothing to me who says what on this forum, but at the time I was a bit fed up with the amount of misinformation being “announced” and reacted accordingly.
Anyway I apologise to the OP (whoever it was), it may well have been posted in good faith.

Ramsey mentioned twice, and neither he nor Redmond will be registered for the 1st half season. Some are under the age we need to register them.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:49 pmwhen does the loan window close ? 30 there, I thought we had to register 25 ?

I'm not sure of his current fitness, but Dodgson played a decent number of games for Dundee at left back last season and apparently shone. Yes, the standard isn't wonderful, but he's gained valuable experience and surely can be in the pecking order in that position if pushed.warksclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:37 pmAgreed-if not starting as a CH he will be my first choice at LB with Pires as No 2. Very happy with Flemming - I was at Deepdale with my mate a couple of years ago watching him absolutely murder them, scored a hat-trick. Strong, good finisher.

Jay and Ash were playing as deep lying forwards to link play with our wide men and even fullbacks coming infield at times for scoring opportunities.Anonymous Claret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:51 pmIf we sign Flemming I think this will have been an outstanding window. Just look at how many goals we scored through Tella, Benson, Zaroury and our fullbacks. Well over 40 goals there.

That was definitely something needed. I’ll never forget pre-game last season (think it was Everton at home) watching us warm up. Berge looked like Dad playing with his young kids.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 9:00 pmanother big man, 6ft 2. We've added a lot of physicality this window

I remember VK saying it takes nearly 30 games to get a team understanding and playing together . He did it in a bout 12 in his first year… could do with that repeating

I remember this when we sold Austinksrclaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:26 pmMurger is right, the strikers we currently have aren't good enough.
Foster has his problems, possibly wanted to leave, and has an extremely poor record. Jay is just too old to be doing it week in week out, as good as he once was. Hountondji is way off the standard at the moment, it's wishful thinking of the highest order to imagine he'll be the answer.

Assuming Flemming is signed, and Vitinho, Tresor and Benson go, then that is 25

Yes, they were but they were still the target men albeit in a less traditional way. They still occupied the centre halves by draging them deep which created the space for Tella, Benson and Zaroury, MaatsenCoolClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:59 pmJay and Ash were playing as deep lying forwards to link play with our wide men and even fullbacks coming infield at times for scoring opportunities.

From what I've seen of Parkers teams, the striker plays a different role - Solanke & Mitrovic bagged for fun under him in the Championship.

Foster can't do the role of Barnes anyway. Hold up play isn't in his strengths. Let's hope a couple of tricking wingers on either side of him and a solid midfield can create chances that he can get on the end of.

That wasn't the way we played against Cardiff or Luton. SP will probably have to adapt and make the best use of the players that he has. City have been outstanding since Haaland arrived but they did alright before he went there also.CoolClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 9:10 pmExactly, so they weren't main goal scorers.

Under 21s perm players don’t have to be registered so that’s Egan-Riley, Dodgson, Hannibal, Ramsey, ageyi and koleosho. Humphreys is on loan so even though he’s 21 or under he has to be registeredwadeswondergoal wrote: ↑Fri Aug 30, 2024 8:50 pmThink players U21 don’t have to be registered in the 25 man squad?
