Whatever you hink about his talents, he has something not many other substitutes have.

The ability to get the crowd back into the game, i would have him on the bench for those games where we are struggling with 20 to go, he can change the atmosphere.

He created a buzz on saturday for example.

If it was muscular, and looked like it was - there's nothing you can do. You can't run it off, you just can't run. He didn't look sharp, but then I didn't expect him to and I'm sure parker won't have either. He was a last throw of the dice, and it didn't work. Ho hum.

It's sad to see but he looks to be pretty much finished as a professional footballer. Completely incapable of getting through even small amounts of minutes on the pitch without breaking down, let alone a run of games.

If ever there was a case of claret tinted glasses … hes not what we need now. Hes a luxury player. 5 mins here 5 mins there. And rest time injured….. on say £25k a week.

Imagine your an employer. And an employee comes in for 10 mins every day and goes sick. What would you do. Exactly.

You can fool some of the people some of the time but you can’t fool all of the people all of the time. Consistently getting injured. I’d have to question his ability to give value for money. He did play brilliantly well in our promotion season back to the Premiership, is now a shadow of his former self.

He's luxury player right enough and as he's shown a match winner.Last years treatment by VK was extreme bullying and never addressed by the board.

How was it "extreme bullying"?

About 10 of us watching, actually all laughed out loud at his attempt at a limp... He couldn't make it any more obvious that he doesn't want to be at our club and is not up for the fight!...

We were also laughing every time he got the ball and I said to everyone else in the room... "Watch him try and cut inside", which he tried every single time!... He got worked out in the Premier League in about 20 minutes, if that and now it looks like they have worked out his one trick in the Championship as well.

Id sack him, but this is a different world and we can't sack him so he is on 25k a week as you say, what do we do?

Tell him never to turn up again?

We have large bench these days, and i repeat he got the crowd in the game, i didn't say he was a game changer but his arrival can change the tone of the crowd.

There will be games where we are struggling and its gone a bit quiet and are opposition are finding it comfortable, we need subs that can change that. There maybe be other players emerge but on saturday the whole ground sung his name when he came on.

I despair at some of our fans sometimes.

He has hardly played for a year or so. Hopefully he will get himself fit and be a very useful member of this squad as he was in the last promotion season. I can't be bothered trawling the board but I am pretty sure he received some pelters early in that season also.

The last promotion season btw where he scored an absolute screamer to win the title at our greatest rivals. For that goal alone he deserves the utmost respect from supporters. In over 50 years of watching the Clarets along with Wade's goal at Wembley it is my favourite BFC moment.

A simple option if he doesn't want to play would be to show him the door, rip his contract so we're not paying him but keep his registration forms (to gain a transfer fee on him)
I don't know if that's even possible but I would hate to think what we are paying him per week

Agree. Anyone who has played football at any level knows the importance a run of games has for fitness and of course confidence/the mental aspect.

I dident see any club rushing it to buy or loan him during window. He was gone only for that. I dont think the club or manager would stand in his way

Agreed and to fair he saw plenty of the ball when he came on and got some crosses into the box but he was very rusty.

When you have a team parking the bus you need something different and Benson has that bit of magic.

There's been an overreaction to his performance on Saturday. As is always the case, he completely changed the pattern of the game. He reminds me of Chris Eagles in a way in that when he's on the pitch everything seems to go through him.

The drawback of this is that whens he's not playing well it can become a problem and we become a bit predictable.
On Saturday I thought he just really.obvipusly lacked some confidence, nothing came naturally so he looked hesitant
That became really.obvious when they gave him.the line to run at and he looked scared to do so. When he's at his best it all looks more natural and fluent.

He lacks match fitness and looks a bit heavier.

Absolute myth that he only cuts inside - he provided numerous chances going around the outside last season, he didn't have the burst to get around their fullback, who also marshalled Koleosho really well.

Thought he did well. Quickly learned they were doubling up on him so he went outside instead a few times. They couldn't win the ball from him.

If a player is good enough to have two opponents marking him when they are already down to 10 men then it's the rest of the teams issue (or a tactics issue)for not making enough space elsewhere.
Or his issue for not switching play to try and find/force a gap.

I don’t think he was as bad as some have painted, he won a few corners if I remember rightly, and you’ve got to make allowances for the lack of game time and match sharpness… but it wasn’t a good performance either and there certainly wasn’t enough to make a case for him getting any more than the odd cameo here and there.

He was constantly on the ball when he came on and was trying to create. Why would he suddenly go down for no reason? So many pathetic posters on here now.
